I Let a Ghost Use My Body for One Night. Now I Can’t Get It Back.
It said it just wanted to feel alive again. I believed it. That was my first mistake.

I was lonely, drunk, and scrolling through forums I had no business being on.
That’s when I found the thread.
“Let a spirit borrow your body for one night. Feel something… different.”
At first, I laughed. Internet nonsense. But the replies felt… real. Dozens of people, swearing they tried it. Some raved about how alive they felt afterward. Others said nothing at all. Their accounts deleted.
I was curious. And drunk. And stupid.
So I followed the instructions.
It was simple:
Step 1: Draw the sigil on a mirror with candle wax.
Step 2: Say: “One night. No tricks. I open myself.”
Step 3: Go to sleep.
So I did. Why not? What was the worst that could happen?
I woke up… feeling different. Not in pain. Not afraid.
More like I was the passenger in my own body.
It was walking, eating, laughing.
It went to my job and spoke with my voice, but with a charisma I never had.
It flirted with the barista I’d been too shy to approach for months.
It spoke to my mother on the phone and actually made her laugh.
And I was just… inside. Watching. Feeling everything.
It was better at being me than I was.
The agreement was one night. But when I went to sleep again, I didn’t wake up in control.
The next night passed. Then the next.
I screamed inside my head, begged it to give me my body back.
All it said was:
“You gave it away. You didn’t ask how I died. You didn’t ask what I’d do. You just wanted to feel something.”
Now, days have passed. I’m still here — buried in my own mind, watching it live my life better than I ever did.
It smiles with my lips.
It kisses my crush with my mouth.
It laughs in my mother’s voice.
And the worst part?
No one notices the difference.
Except the dog.
My dog growls at me now.
At it.
Last night, it looked in the mirror and whispered:
“You should have asked my name.”
It turned the mirror toward me.
And written in condensation, I saw:
"Property of Elianna. Returned Never."
