Humanoid Amphibians and a Sinister Goat man?
The Loveland Frogman and other cryptids you might not have heard of

The Loveland Frogman
Loveland, Ohio
The sightings first started in the 1950’s.
A bipedal reptilian like creature with grey leathery skin, bulging eyes, and webbed hands and feet. The very few that claim to have seen it say that it stood about three feet to four feet tall or the height of a child and resembled the features of a frog.
It is known as the Loveland Lizard or more commonly the Loveland Frogman.
The first claimed sighting happened when a businessman witnessed a small number of strange creatures moving along the nearby Little Miami river just off the road.
And then about two decades later, two police officers on separate occasions saw the same bipedal frog like creature.
The last sighting occurred in 2016. But that doesn’t mean the Loveland frogman isn’t still out there.
The Loveland Frogman has become a part of Ohio folklore and seems to be a beloved cryptid for many of the locals. There’s even a festival dedicated to it.
If a bipedal frog like creature wasn’t strange enough for you, wait until you hear about a cryptid spotted in parts of Indonesia of which those that claim to have seen it say it resembles a flying primate.
Ahool
Indonesia
Those that have had the misfortune of seeing this creature say that it looks like a giant bat while others will swear it looks like a flying primate and I don’t know which is more terrifying.
It is an elusive yet menacing creature that lives among the deepest parts of Indonesia’s lush jungles. It has the face of a primate, bat like wings with claws, and a terrifying wingspan of 18 to almost 30 feet.
If you thought the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz were scary …
Folklore of the creature claims that it will not hesitate to attack humans if the opportunity presents itself.
Ahool got its name from the shrieking sound it makes heard by witnesses.
The Pope Lick Monster (the Goat Man)
Kentucky
This cryptid reminds me of the fairytales of the troll that lives under the bridge and attacks unsuspecting passersby.
This particular cryptid lives under a certain bridge that crosses over Kentucky’s Pope Lick Creek. It’s half man, half goat (or part sheep) with the upper body of a man and the torso and below of a goat. Not a troll but way more terrifying!
Some legends say that the Pope Lick monster is the result of a goat farmer gone mad when he made a deal with Satan for supernatural powers.
Other legends claim that it is a Native American curse in order to protect sacred ground.
There have been numerous accounts from a group of teenagers, couples, as well as solo accounts.
Some accounts add that it also carries an ax if the mere sight of it wasn’t terrifying enough.
The Slide Rock Bolter
Colorado
This has to be the weirdest out of all the cryptids mentioned here and sounds almost fan made like maybe a group of teenagers held a competition to see who could make up the most wildest most bizarre cryptid.
First seen in the 19th and early half of the 20th century, this creature lives in the steepest mountains of Colorado.
It closely resembles that of a massive fish the size of a blue whale.
Digging into the mountain with the grab hooks of its massive tail, it will remain in one position for days waiting for any unsuspecting prey including humans.
That’s not even the strangest part. Once it spots its prey, it will break its grab hook grip, secrete a slick lubricant from its mouth, and use it to glide down the mountain, breaking through tree roots and vegetation, and scooping its victims up into its mouth.
I told you it was weird.
As ludicrous as it sounds, the Slide Rock Bolter legend might be based on a more realistic animal — a prehistoric whale or a land dwelling fish.
From winged cryptids to humanoid amphibian creatures, the world is full of strange and terrifying cryptids that have been the folklore of many cultures.
