Kanchana

By Sangeetha SPublished 3 years ago 7 min read

Once upon a time, in a small village in the southern part of India, there lived a woman named Kanchana. She was a beautiful young lady with long black hair, sparkling brown eyes, and a radiant smile. She was admired by many, and her kindness and generosity were well known in the village.

Kanchana lived with her husband in a modest house, which was surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees. One day, while Kanchana was out in the fields, she came across an old abandoned house. It was rumoured that the house was haunted, and many people believed that no one had ever dared to enter it after dark. However, Kanchana, being the brave woman she was, decided to investigate.

As she entered the house, she felt a chill run down her spine. The air was thick with an eerie silence, and the only sounds were the creaking of the old wooden floorboards beneath her feet. Kanchana slowly made her way through the house, her heart beating faster with every step.

As she entered the attic, she saw a strange old book lying on the floor. It was written in an ancient language, and she couldn't understand a word of it. However, she felt drawn to the book, and she picked it up.

Suddenly, she heard a voice whispering in her ear. It was a woman's voice, and it seemed to be coming from the book. The voice spoke of a terrible curse that had befallen the village many years ago. The curse was placed by a woman who had been wronged by the villagers and had sought revenge.

The voice warned Kanchana that the curse would claim the lives of all the villagers unless it was broken. The only way to break the curse was to find the woman's grave and perform a ritual.

Kanchana was determined to break the curse and save her village. She enlisted the help of a few of her closest friends, and they set out to find the woman's grave.

They searched for days, and just when they were about to give up, they stumbled upon a small cemetery in the middle of the forest. They searched through the graves, and eventually, they found the woman's grave.

They performed the ritual as instructed, and the curse was broken. However, as they made their way back to the village, they realised that they were being followed by a dark shadowy figure. It was the woman who had placed the curse, and she was seeking revenge.

Kanchana and her friends ran as fast as they could, but the shadowy figure was relentless. Eventually, they made it back to the village, and Kanchana knew that she had to face the woman head-on.

As the sun began to set, Kanchana stood in the middle of the village square, waiting for the woman to appear. The villagers gathered around her, and they all watched in terror as the shadowy figure emerged from the darkness.

Kanchana stood her ground and faced the woman, and as she did, she felt a sudden surge of power. She realised that the woman was not a ghost but a vengeful spirit that had been trapped in the cursed book.

Kanchana summoned all her courage and began to recite an ancient chant that she had learnt from the book. As she chanted, the woman began to weaken, and eventually, she vanished into thin air.

The curse was broken, and the village was saved. Kanchana became a hero in the eyes of the villagers, and her bravery and determination were admired by all. From that day on, she was known as the woman who defeated the curse of Kanchana.

However, the experience had left Kanchana deeply shaken. She couldn't shake the feeling that the woman's spirit was still out there, waiting to seek revenge.

Days turned into weeks, and Kanchana tried to go back to her normal life. But every night, she would wake up to strange noises and eerie whispers. She would see shadowy figures moving around her house, and she knew that she was not alone.

Her husband, who had always been sceptical of the supernatural, began to notice that something was wrong. He could see the fear in Kanchana's eyes, and he knew that he had to do something to help her.

He consulted a wise old sage, who gave him a potion that was said to ward off evil spirits. He gave the potion to Kanchana, and she drank it every night before going to bed.

The potion seemed to work, and Kanchana was finally able to get a good night's sleep. The noises and whispers stopped, and the shadowy figures disappeared.

However, Kanchana's peace was short-lived. One night, as she was lying in bed, she felt a cold breath on her neck. She turned around, and to her horror, she saw the woman's spirit standing right next to her.

Kanchana tried to scream, but no sound came out of her mouth. The woman's spirit began to laugh, and Kanchana felt a cold grip on her neck. She tried to fight back, but she was powerless against the spirit's strength.

Just when she thought it was all over, she heard a voice calling out her name. It was her husband, and he was standing at the door, holding a lit candle. The light seemed to weaken the spirit, and Kanchana felt the grip around her neck loosen.

Her husband rushed to her side, and together, they recited an ancient chant that they had learnt from the sage. As they chanted, the spirit began to weaken, and eventually, it vanished into thin air.

Kanchana and her husband realised that the spirit had been trying to seek revenge on Kanchana because she had disturbed her grave. They decided to visit the grave again and offer prayers to the spirit.

After that night, Kanchana never saw the spirit again. She knew that she had finally found peace, and she could sleep soundly once again. She continued to live her life, helping others, and spreading love and kindness wherever she went. But every once in a while, when she looked at the abandoned house, she would feel a shiver run down her spine, reminding her of the ghostly encounter that had changed her life forever.

As the years went by, Kanchana never forgot about the encounter with the ghost. She always felt a sense of unease whenever she passed by the abandoned house, and she wondered if the spirit had truly found peace.

One day, Kanchana was passing by the house, and she noticed that the front door was slightly ajar. She couldn't resist the urge to take a closer look, so she cautiously pushed open the door and stepped inside.

The interior of the house was dusty and cobweb-filled, and the air was thick with an eerie silence. As Kanchana walked through the house, she felt as though she was being watched. She couldn't shake the feeling that the spirit was still present, even after all these years.

Suddenly, Kanchana heard a loud creaking sound, and she turned around to see an old rocking chair moving back and forth on its own. She froze in fear as she watched the chair continue to rock, seemingly of its own accord.

Then, she heard a faint whispering sound, and she realised that the ghostly spirit was trying to communicate with her. She couldn't make out the words, but she could sense the spirit's desperation and anger.

Kanchana knew that she had to do something to help the spirit find peace. She decided to consult with the sage once again, hoping that he could offer some guidance.

The sage listened to Kanchana's story and nodded knowingly. He told her that the spirit was trapped in the house because it had unfinished business. He said that the only way to help the spirit find peace was to find out what it wanted and help it achieve its goal.

Kanchana was determined to help the spirit. She spent many long hours in the house, searching for clues and trying to communicate with the ghostly presence. Finally, she found a journal hidden away in a corner of the attic.

The journal belonged to the woman whose grave Kanchana had disturbed years ago. In it, she had written about her love for a man who had left her to marry another woman. She had been consumed by grief and anger, and she had taken her own life in the house.

Kanchana realized that the spirit was still trapped in the house because it had never been able to let go of its anger and sadness. She decided to reach out to the man who had broken the woman's heart and try to bring closure to the situation.

With Kanchana's help, the man was able to understand the pain that he had caused the woman, and he was able to ask for forgiveness. Finally, the spirit was able to find peace, and Kanchana felt a sense of closure that she had never felt before.

From that day forward, Kanchana made it her mission to help other spirits find peace. She dedicated her life to studying the supernatural and helping those who had been affected by it. She knew that she would never forget the encounter with the ghost, but she also knew that it had led her on a path of purpose and fulfillment.
