Home Alone on Halloween Night

A spooky micro

By Sam SpinelliPublished about a year ago 1 min read

There was only one rule: don’t open the door.

Now Rachel’s parents were seriously calling to tell her again?

Well she frickin got it!

She understood their fear.

After that one kid disappeared last Halloween, the whole city understood.

Everybody had seen the PSAs: don’t open the door for grownups who you don’t know and trust.

Duh.

It was sad what happened to that poor kid, but come on!

She wasn’t an idiot.

Why would you ever open the door for a stranger?

She didn’t even need to be told.

“I’ll be fine mom. PLEASE STOP. Yes I’ll keep the door locked. No, not even to refill the candy bowl. Yes I PROMISE!!!”

Seriously, toddlers were outside having fun, and her parents had her cooped up in a fortress?

If she ever had kids, she definitely wouldn’t embarrass them like this!

She grumbled and went back to her show.

Later the ring door bell chimed.

She checked the notification:

It was almost immediately followed by a text from her mother: “DO NOT OPEN THAT DOOR!

Mom it’s just some kid.

I don’t care if it’s a fucking Keebler elf. Door stays shut young lady!!

She rolled her eyes.

The kid at the door spoke, in the littlest voice ever: “is anybody home? There’s no more candy in your bowl. But my mom said I can only trick or treat for 20 minutes so I better go.”

Her mom over the ring: “sorry kiddo, you’ll have to try a different house.”

Yep, little kids were annoying but moms were too. “Wait a sec kid, moms are the worst! I’ll bring you a whole bag of candy.”

When she opened the door the little “kid” unfolded into a tower and she tried to slam the door but he was too strong.
