Hell’s Hatchway
A spooky micro
There was only one rule: don’t open the door.
I’ll be the one to do that.
Gotta make sure my big red cash cow dont slip out. Went through quite the ball pain trapping him down there. Also gotta make sure you don’t die. I don’t need the mess.
Had a couple accidents, people trying to sneak in. Never animals. They seem to know better. But kids hop the fence. Sometimes employees….
One of the previous grounds keepers, he uh, got himself cooked. By the time I found him… goner.
Just twitching and mumbling and begging me to help.
What help? Damn fool’s arm was blackened to a crisp. Cauterized to the metal. Bone poking up through the hissing smoke.
Sometimes the heat radiating off that door is unbearable.
Makes your nose hairs crisp up and your trachea burn.
Had to put him out of his misery. Used a grill scraper to peel his char off the iron. Maybe I shoulda left his imprint there as a warning. Paying customers only!
But I did, uh, feel bad. For the guy. His kid had just been diagnosed with some cancer. Can’t blame him trying to steal a glance and look that devil in the eyes and make his wish.
But this aint a goddamned charity.
Ah there it is!
Too bad it’s not still raining. That’s a sight! Rain drops dance and burst. Like they’re landing in a hot skillet.
Gotta blow these leaves away before they dry out….
Let’s go over this one last time: you stand way back here. I open the doors. You look into that furnace of a basement. You’ll see him staring up at you. You make eye contact, that’s the contract. Hold until he blinks! Your soul for your deepest wish.

Omgggg, I'd trade my soul for nothing, lol. It's for him to keep. Like just take over my body and run my life for me. That'll be a dream come true because life is so exhausting 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is wild! I love tension and dark humor. The way you describe the situation is so vivid, and that final line about making eye contact gave me chills. Awesome storytelling!
