Echoes from the Abyss
In 2098, a deep-sea exploration vessel uncovers a sunken alien ship, awakening a terror from the depths.
The year was 2098, and humanity’s thirst for discovery had pushed explorers to the ocean’s deepest trenches. The Aegis Explorer, a state-of-the-art deep-sea research vessel, was dispatched to the Mariana Trench—the deepest known point on Earth.
Captain Lena Morozova led a crew of 15 scientists and engineers on this mission. Their goal was to collect samples and map unexplored regions, but the expedition quickly turned dark.
At a depth of 11,000 meters, the submersible’s sonar detected a massive object buried beneath sediment—a structure unlike any known shipwreck.
Curiosity piqued, the crew initiated a dive with their remotely operated vehicle, Nautilus-3.
As the drone approached, its cameras revealed an alien vessel—sleek, organic in shape, with strange inscriptions glowing faintly on its hull.
Suddenly, the lights flickered, and the drone’s feed showed a shadow moving inside the wreck.
Then silence.
When the drone failed to respond, Captain Morozova authorized a manned descent.
Inside the shipwreck, the atmosphere was thick with an eerie bioluminescence. Walls pulsated gently, as if alive. The crew noticed strange symbols etched everywhere—symbols that seemed to shift when not directly observed.
Suddenly, the submersible trembled.
A low hum filled the cabin.
One by one, crew members began hearing whispers—unintelligible at first, then forming into recognizable phrases.
“Leave… or join us… forever.”
The submersible’s systems started malfunctioning. Lights dimmed, communications failed.
Panic set in as crew members experienced hallucinations—visions of drowning in endless water, of alien eyes watching from dark corners.
Captain Morozova realized they had awoken something inside the shipwreck—a sentient presence that was feeding on their fear.
One by one, the crew vanished. No signs of struggle, only their last echoes heard over the failing comms.
The last message received before silence was Captain Morozova’s voice:
“We were never meant to find this… The abyss is alive.”
When a rescue team arrived days later, the Aegis Explorer was found empty, its systems running on autopilot, drifting aimlessly.
Only the haunting echoes remained.
