In the American Wildlands of Indiana, there was a cult of people who believed the world would end, if the blood of innocent virgins was not shed. There have been horror stories throughout history, where many believed the reason crops would not grow in the fields, or why there was a severe drought, was due to the fact God himself was not pleased with his people. So some would offer blood sacrifices to appease these higher beings, believing this is what they wanted. Nobody truly knows where this bizarre myth began, only that many cultures around the world thought this was a genuine way of pleasing their God-like rulers from the sky. I am not here to question religion as a whole, as nobody truly knows for certain whether or not there truly is some other worldly force that controls the planet, watching over us and protecting those who deserve it the most. This story is about the before mentioned Doomsday Cult of Indiana, who in 1985, were involved in a series of terrifying murders that nobody should ever repeat!
It all started when a little girl named Emily Griffin went fishing with her father Randal, the lake was shimmering against the summer sun and life just seemed grand. Birds flew through the air, singing beautiful songs. The grass was green and vibrant, the sky was cloudless and blue as the ocean. The father and daughter caught several fish, Haddocks and Cod Fish just to name a few. They would take the fish home and cook them for dinner that night. So off they went! Walking through the bright woodlands, gazing at the tall trees and interesting critters who climbed up on branches, jumped off and swung from tree to tree like monkeys, only these were Squirrels and Chipmunks. Emily loved these little animals, they were so cute and fluffy, she often begged her dad to take one home.
"We can't do that, sweetie. These are wild animals, they're not domesticated like our pet cat Snowball." He'd tell her.
"But... Why can't we domesticate them? Please?" She'd beg.
"Because it's illegal and cruel."
"Yet, Snowball seems happy." She challenged, "why wouldn't that little chipmunk be?"
"If you're good, I'll get you a Hamster for your birthday, ok?"
"Ok, daddy!" Emily smiled.
The walk home went as normal as could be, then they both saw something they'd never forget! Against a wide tree was the words: "For God we sacrifice the blood of the virgin" in a red substance that Randal believed was the blood of the slaughtered young woman, who lay dead beneath this grotesque display. Emily screamed, then cried, burying her face into Randal's chest.
"Who could have done such a thing!" He said out loud.
Soon a police investigation began, it seemed the killer left no traces whatsoever and within the countryside, there wasn't a single camera to catch the murder take place. However search dogs sniffed the area and led police to an old abandoned church. They followed tyre tracks nearby, but these soon faded into the muddy ground, untraceable to track down. Soon another murder like this would pop up a week or two later, within the same forests. So Police began surveying the area heavily. Unfortunately it seemed the killer was onto this and stopped the murders and moved to another part of the country, as some poor young boy and his friends found another horrifying display like the first murder, within a derelict wooden shack by the lake docks. The corpse was of a young teenage boy this time, there was another bloody message plastered across the wall above him, saying; "God, forgive me for my delay! Here I offer the blood of another Virgin!" DNA tests proved that this too was written in the victim's blood, as his slit wrists seemed unusually dry as if the killer drew the message from these wounds. Again, there weren't any traces of the killer left behind. Fortunately, this shack was owned by a particularly rich Fisherman who had a security camera aimed directly at his building. The surveillance footage showed a cult of masked men in black, beige and white robes, pushing a short boy with a sack over his head into the shack forcefully. It is presumed this hostage of theirs was the teenager who was murdered. A local officer recognised the robes instantly, claiming the people who committed this murder were religious fanatics, those who feared God Almighty so much, they believed the world would end soon. They were an infamous cult among the locals of the area, many avoided them, knowing that they did not truly speak the word of God's higher morals. Sadly, many were brainwashed, as the cult leader was charismatic and convincing. He had convinced his followers that this is what "God" desired, like some old horror story you'd hear from medieval history. As more and more evidence arose, the cult was soon raided, everyone involved in the many virgin sacrifices confessed without fight, as they believed admitting this was no sin, but rather something to be proud of. It is believed this cult leader was never a religious man to begin with, that he was simply using his disciples to commit heinous crimes of murder, perhaps for his own sadistic pleasures or a more sinister reason behind such madness. Whatever the case may be, The Doomsday Murders shook the hearts of many people and cut short the lives of those who never experienced true love.
To this day, there are many mysterious cults just like this, who use religion and politics to sway people into their demented ways of thinking. Most cult leaders never practice what they preach, it is more than likely a sick man's game to manipulate others into doing their bidding. Many of these leaders claim to speak with God, but perhaps the entity they are really speaking to, is the Devil!
