Don't Open the Door,
or else.
There was only one rule: don't open the door.
But I did.
An outpour of hot air consumed the hallway with the door now on the ground in splinters, and a darkened figure standing freely in the doorway.
“What have you done!” Screamed the woman in white.
The all-consuming figure floated to me, grabbing my shoulders as we levitated. Its grimly mouth opened, and a glowing light emerged. I could feel something within me pulling up out of my chest.
The woman in white screamed beside the figure; clawing and swinging on its foggy appearance, “don’t do this!”
I was laid on the floor gently by the figure, and I stared blankly as it turned away from me. Now appearing before the woman in white, she stopped, completely frozen.
“No! You can’t!
The figure did the same to her as it did to me. The glowing light instead absorbed into her. The woman in white screamed in pain as the figure entered her. The woman began screaming harder as the glow grew brighter and brighter. I shielded my eyes with my fingers, the light was intense, and then the sound of an explosion. I peered through my fingers to see dust and clouds of smoke swirling in the air.
I stood up, examining the space around me. I looked over at the room that caged the figure. Drawings from a child stuck to the walls, and aged blankets coated the floor.
Not a cage, but a shelter for something bottled up.
There was only one rule: don't open the door.
But I did... and it saved me from my demon.
