Chapter 3

Next morning both Nia and Carlos started asking questions about old memorial high school near its neighborhood and figured out that the rumor of the mass suicide is not true.

Nia said, “If the rumor is not true then what we saw in the school yesterday must be a memory of a ghost or an illusion.” Carlos said, “We should focus on the possibility of an illusion as we didn’t feel threatened yesterday…”, Nia interrupted, “but at the same time we cannot ignore our first experience.” Carlos said, “yeah”. They decided to go to school again in the evening. Nia and Carlos entered the school and went directly to the second floor.

There, they saw a young man holding a child hostage with a knife, while some people were trying to save the child. Carlos stopped Nia from moving forward and said, ‘This could be a supernatural activity.’ Nia replied, ‘But why didn’t any of the people we asked about the school mention these kinds of supernatural activities?’ Carlos responded in a nervous voice, ‘You are right; let’s watch this while hiding.’

Suddenly a dark mist appeared and the corridor of second floor become quite gloomy. A shadow started randomly roaming in the corridor and then the shadow jumped out of the window. Both Nia and Carlos gasped. Carlos said jokingly, “I think we should head back for today before that thing take us with it.” Nia replied, “I agree”. They started walking down the stairs and Carlos felt a sudden chill and stopped. Carlos said in a low voice, “let’s go back to the second floor”. Nia stopped, “wait. why?”. Carlos said while gasping, “I don’t know why but right now we shouldn’t go down, I just don’t feel right”. Nia said, “okay. You should try to calm down we can’t panic right now, at least not here.”

They waited on the stairs in complete silence. Then Carlos said, “I feel a little better now. Let’s head back before it’s too late”, Nia replied, “With pleasure.” They both head back to their respective houses, but Carlos was still in shock for some reason. Nia asked him to meet her outside his house tomorrow morning. Next morning she calmly asked Carlos what had happened to him yesterday. Carlos, “I think, I heard someone’s voice in my ear, and it said, “don’t go”. that’s why I stopped you.”

Nia, “It clearly means one thing that there is something supernatural and we need to take some measures before going there”
