“OH FUCK! GOD! IT FUCKING HURTS! KEEP PUSHING! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GUYS DOING. PUSH HARDER! I CAN FEEL IT BREAKING MY BONES! PUSH FROM THE OTHER SIDE TOO! HURRY! WHY IS IT SO HOT IN HERE!” will screamed at the top of his lungs. Cracking his cords.

The temperature had risen from a warm 93 degrees to now pushing an uncomfortable 212 degrees. The skin on those stuck in the garnet room had been baking for the past hour. Slowly melting off their flesh. Their perfect youthful skin was now the texture of melted plastic. It melted off of their bones.

Elise screamed in agony

“HELP ME! IT BURNS! ITS BURNING OFF MY SKIN! PLEASE!” Elise screamed out.

Their vocal cords corse and badly damaged. Every scream ripped through their throat. Shooting blood from their panicked bodies

“MOMMM PLEASE! I WANT MY MOM! MOM! MOM!” Levi cried out

Will’s screams were especially shattering to everyone’s eardrums. His foot jammed into the large stone door that separated the sapphire room from the garnet room. He had been yanking it since they arrived. Pushing 3 hours now. His skin dissolved causing the elastic of his skin to be pulled apart easily. In complete agony and desperation, he was able to pull his leg out only an inch more. His skin ripping off his leg Much like chicken when cooked tenderly. It fell right off the bone. Now his bare skeleton was exposed. He grabbed the excess skin that was on his leg and threw it to the side. His efforts, although great, did not do much to lossen the grip, a majority of it was still burrowed deeply into the stone. He pulled out the knife he had been carrying on this journey and began to aggressively saw himself at himself at the bone. Filled with pure adrenaline he screamed as he blew each blow into his leg. He blacked out for a moment before gathering the strength to continue. Eventually snapping it off like a branch His screams were pure agony and misery.

“AAAAAAAHHHH MOTHER FUCKER! YOU SONS OF BITCHES. I’LL KILL YOU! LOOK AT ME!” he cried at his new amputation. He held onto his bleeding nub and crawled to Elise, Mallory, and Levi

“THERE IS A FUCKING REASON WHY I SEE YOU PEOPLE ONLY ONCE A YEAR! BAD LUCK! BAD LUCK IS WHAT YOU ALL ARE!” will blaming the group

“SHUT THE FUCK UP WILL! JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP! WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE IN HERE! WE ARE FUCKING STUCK IN HERE WITH THESE CRYSTAL BALLS THAT SEEMINGLY GLOW EVERY TIME IT GETS HOTTER IN HERE! GOD KNOWS WHAT’S HAPPENING TO MARNIE AND LOLA! WE WILL PROBABLY NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN! JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Levi shouted back at will.

“Maybe one of us needs to die… a sacrifice. Right? Places like this often ask for those things right? Maybe one of us needs to die, and I’m getting out of here alive, I have too much at home to go back to.. I’M SUPPOSED TO WORK WALL STREET! So you tell me, Levi? Which bitch is it going to be? Or will it be you?” Will demanded at Levi. The girls still pealing their skin like Play-Doh in the back.

“Who the fuck are you right now will? Because you aren’t looking like our friend right now. Do you really think you are the only one who has something to go back to? Are you fucking kidding me you one-legged prick!? How fucking dare you! Mallory takes care of her grandmother, Elsie sends money back home to her sister, MY little brother lives with me back at home, and you think you are more important than us? Just because you were the “smartest” out of all of us in high school and had a full-ride scholarship to whatever college of your choosing, doesn’t mean the rest of us deserve to die you fucking asshole.” Levi criticized Will. The two boys got closer to each other. Weapons drawn and ready for blood.

“ELISE NO! STOP!” Mallory screamed

Elise, like the others, had stripped herself down from all her garments to try to cool her body down. The one-and-a-half men looked at her horrified as she walked to the red crystal touching it, quickly retracting her hand from its scorching heat. She held the knife she brought with her and placed it on her scalp. She sobbed but even the tears burned her once soft, clear skin.

“It’s just so so hot you guys,” she said emotionless

Her words paused the argument between Levi and Will. Causing the two to face her.

“Elise! What are you doing?” Levi questioned her.

She took the knife gnawing at her crown. The sounds were horrible. Like butchers carving meat. She was scalping herself. Her long curly brown hair added at least 15 degrees to the already hot temperature. She did the only thing she could think to do. Knowing her body was already badly mutilated. Blood gushed from her head, but she still kept a keen poker face. Without blinking she stared at Levi.

Levi rushed to her trying to stop the events that were already set in motion, but the damage was already done. The now hometown beauty queen was now the image of a nightmare. Her body burned, her head bloodied and bald. She grabbed at her breasts. Levi stopped. Everyone was silent as they watched her. Wondering what she was going to do next. She softly pinched her nipples and pulled them forward. Snapping them completely off like detachable velcro.

She screamed horrifically “AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH” crying hysterically holding the knife. Levi inched more towards her to grab it from her. Mallory was petrified in fear. Warm piss trailing from her legs she shook. Burning her on the way down.

She held the knife to him. Hysterical in her tears “GET AWAY FROM ME!! I’LL NEVER BE BEAUTIFUL AGAIN. Nobody will ever want me….. I’M A MONSTER FROM HELL….”

Elise paused holding the knife…

“So I guess that’s where I’ll go.” She placed her knife to her throat and slit it like butter.

“ELISE! NO NO NO NO NO” Mallory shouted. Bangning her hands against the garnet stone floor.

The temperature began to rise again getting more smouldering.

“Doesn’t look like that did anything, did it will?” Levi said tears streaming down his cheeks. Salty it added a more intense burning sensation to his already pained face.

“Shut the fuck up! I may be limping but I can still kick your ass!” Will hiding his tears about for childhood friend’s death

The red crystal glowed bright crimson. The temperature began to rise again. God have mercy on their poor souls, and the two women in the room next to them. Which fate is worse? That’s up to you to decide.

The trip

“Fuck yes. Hand me that!” Giggles and smoke trailed through the confines of Lola’s small minivan, as Will grabbed one of multiple joints that he and the rest of the gang would be smoking this week.

It’s the yearly trip that the 6 friends since middle school go on in honor of not only having a friendship that lasts longer than 10 years, more than some people’s marriage. They each looked forward to this trip. They mark it on their calendars right after the next one, putting all the money they can back for next year. They have loved each other from the start and their soul bonds have been inseparable.

“Listen listen,” said Elsie

The car got silent…

“You’re an idiot” Levi put his hand around Elsie. Taking the joint from her mouth and placing it in his.

Lola, who was driving the large vehicle joined in

“Okay guys we’re almost here. Welcome to the land of a thousand doors. Or Tennessee for short.”

“Land of a thousand doors? Why is it called that?” Mallory asked

“Why I’m so glad you asked Mallory. You see, Tennessee as well as Missouri is bordered by the most states. being 8. Therefore me naming it “the land of a thousand doors”

Will started laughing coughing on the smoke “That’s so fucking stupid”

Everyone else in the car started laughing as well.

“Hey I think it’s pretty clever,” said Marnie winking at Lola in the mirror

“This is the last time I try to give you guys some knowledge about where we take our trips. Next time, have Will tell you about where we are going. He’ll end up telling you about how the first Hooters was built or how he hooked up with some chick or dude here.” Lola said. Offended

“What can I say? I like what I like. The women love me. The boys love me, and everything in between” he said with a cocky attitude.

Lola scoffed at him

“We are here you ass” She pulled into a driveway with a very large historic-built house.

“Is this us? Elise said “This house is massive”

“See this is what we can afford when we all put our money together to get a nice Airbnb” Lola said proudly.

“I don’t remember putting in this much though,” Mallory said

“ That’s because it wasn’t too badly priced. It was only about 150 a night, about what everyone pitched in” said Lola

“What is the catch?” hesitantly asked Levi

“Why can’t something just be a good deal? Everything is cheaper in the South anyway. Let’s just mark it up as good luck, go inside, and have fun this weekend. Pretty please?”

“Shit that sounds good to me” Will busted out the car doors and inside the doors of the house

“Come on! Open it up! Open it up!”

“I guess that’s our queue to go,” said Lola with her raspy voice. She jumped out of the car and opened the back door where Elise, Levi, and Marnie piled out. Mallory rode shotgun alongside Lola.

Lola pushed through the group to the front door. She lifted the welcome mat that hid the key, The 6 friends entered the manor, in awe of the high ceilings and expensive furnishings. The two-story manor was large with 5 rooms, 6 bathrooms, a large living room, a kitchen, a home movie theatre, and of course a fully stocked bar.

“This is fucking epic” Will proclaimed to the house. Sliding over to the bar to pour each member a shot of honeyed whiskey.

“Drink up everyone!” will shouted passing out the shout glasses

“Ugh Will I fucking hate whiskey,” said Marnie

“Lighten up Marnie take a damn drink” Marnie sighed disgusted as she reached for the drink

Lola nudged at Marnie who was dreading the drink. She whispered to her

“I’m more of a vodka girl myself. I hate the way whiskey tastes. Well take ours together” Lola threw Marnie a cheeky smile and winked at her. Marnie nudged her back and smiled

“You’re like my boyfriend Lola haha,” Marnie replied turning her attention back to the group.

Lola’s smile changed to a frown as she also looked back to the group. You see, Lola had been in love with Marnie since 6th grade. She loved everything about her. The way the blue highlights in her cherry brown hair sparkled in the sun like stars. The way her lips always had a slushy ruby tint to them. Lola caught herself constantly imagining what her lips tasted like. She fantasized they tasted like strawberry Fanta. She also loved who Marnie was. Kinda a dunce, but really funny and always really really sweet…Because of how life works. The group only gets together for their yearly trip. Catching up on life and what plans come next. The week consists of a lot of drinking and Will trying to convince everyone that they should have an orgy at least once. Lola knew Marnie was possibly bi curious but she had never wanted to put pressure on her to pursue that with her. She just hopes one day her clouded vision clears up and Marnie comes running into her arms, until then Lola still has to catch herself from looking at her butt for too long.

“Woohoo. Let’s get these drinks flowing!” Mallory yelled.

Levi and Elsie stood next to each other. Besides the sexual tension between Lola and Marnie. Our other love story consists of these two. They had lost their virginities to each other from fear that they would die virgins. It was strictly as “friends” but both of them felt something there. They hooked up for a while throughout high school, but things got complicated when Elise found her first boyfriend and didn’t want to continue casually hooking up with her best friend. After high school, they hooked up once on one of the trips, but swore to never do it again so they don’t ruin their friendship, but they are both madly in love with each other and will be until the day they die.

“Now as much as I love to make the toasts for our trips. I know it’s not my turn this year, so I’ll pass the torch to the next sorry bastard. Mallory, I believe this it’s you” everyone cheered as Mallory walked to the center of the group.

Mallory was very similar to Will in their promiscuity. Only Mallory would never hook up with someone from the friend group ever. EVER! She is an outgoing gal. Short strawberry blonde hair and a natural orange blush to her face with the most adorable chubby cheeks you will ever see.

“Lola, you have the best eye for photography I’ve ever seen in my entire life, and you write the most stunning poetry I’ve ever read. I swear you are the next Edgar Allen Poe… if he also did photography as well”

Levi cheered for him more loudly than anyone else

“Don’t you only play the Sims?” Levi condescendingly replied

She scoffed

“Anyways.. We all gather together once a year to commemorate our friendship since 6th grade. If we hadn’t all been sitting at the same arts and crafts table in Ms. Paige’s class. None of us would be here today. I love each and every one of you guys. Your strengths and weaknesses are what has made this group of friends last for so long. I’m so so proud of what you all have accomplished and what you will continue to accomplish. This week let’s put aside the bullshit from our lives back home. Let’s enjoy each other and enjoy this free alcohol! WHOOOHOO”

Everyone cheered in agreement

Everyone clinked their glasses together and shot back the alcohol.

Marnie and Lola’s faces went sour in distaste for the alcohol. The others shot it back with ease.

And just like that. The gang partied and drank at least 4 more shots each. will is on his 7th. They listened to music together, drank together, smoked together, danced together, and just enjoyed each other’s company. For this week they got to be kids again. Chasing each other on the playground and playing hide and seek.

“Come on Elise, get up on that counter and show us some surfing moves!” levis speech slurred

“ELISE! ELISE! ELISE!” The crowd demanded.

Elsie got on top of the large kitchen island and started to do various surfing moves and dances to the song “What’s Longer than a Moment?” by Ezahvelli

Cheering and hollering at her

“Fuck Yeah, Elsie!” Lola yelled hoping on the table joining her in her dancing.

“Don’t mind if I do. A nice Elsie Lola sandwich!” Will eager to join the two girls and also sloppy drunk attempted to jump on the table. However, miscalculated his jump and busted his head on the table.

“OUCH MOTHER FUCKER!”

The counter began to rumble and shake. The two girls hopped off the table. Grabbing Will and pulling him away from it.

The counter split into two directions revealing a hidden staircase leading downwards.

“What the fuck?” Lola said

“Am I the only one who sees a large hidden passageway open up from the kitchen island?” said Marnie puzzled.

“Looks like I’m going down in there first!” Will exclaimed

Levi grabbed him forcefully

“Dude no. This looks like bad fucking news friend. I don’t like the looks of it at all.” Levi insisted

“Where do you think it goes?” said Elsie

“By the looks of it…. Down” said Lola.

“Well, what do we do? It’s just kinda out and exposed. Can we shut it?” said Marnie

“Will you get the other side. Let’s try to push it back in place. ”

The two boys with all their might. Pushed hard at the opposite ends of the counter, but it didn’t budge.

“Well, maybe we should go check out what’s down there. Who knows it could be the family jewels? Then we would all be rich!” said Will.

“Okay hold on! We need to think rationally. This is not our house and some large hidden passageway that looks as old as the Egyptian pyramids. If we go down there who knows what we could find. I don’t like the looks of it. I’m not going” Lola stated her opinion on the matter.

“I think it could be fun…! We are always looking for an adventure and something spontaneous. Well, here it is! I say we go check it out. There are knives in the kitchen let’s just take one and some other weapon-like items and go see what’s up? It’s probably just a wine cellar and bam more free alcohol!” said Mallory

“I’m down,” said Marnie

Lola looked at her betrayed and concerned.

“Shit I was down the moment those doors opened. Who is coming with us three?” Will cheered

The group got silent when Elise jumped up to them

“Sure. I’m down for some rich people’s wine. Plus maybe we will find some vintage pornos we can all watch together” Elsise said smiling

And of course, hesitantly Levi looked at Lola with the same concern as her, but he knew he had to go with Elise. If something happened to her. He could not forgive himself. So he stepped forward

“You coming lo?” Marnie asked her

Lola looked at all of them looking at her. “How could they be so willing to do something so stupid?” she thought to herself, but anywhere that Marnie went, Lola had to go after her.

“I fucking hate you guys”

“Let’s at least bring some supplies. Who knows what’s down there.”

They each dispersed from the group. Grabbing water and canned food. Elsie, Mallory, and Marnie each grabbed a small knife. Will grabbed a larger knife as well as a large pool stick. The 4 of them put the items in a small backpack as Levi talked to Lola

“I don’t like this any more than you do, but we both know why we gotta go down there with them.” he looked at Lola with a reassuring face that said we are in this together.

She smiled and punched his arm playfully

“What would they do without us?” lol said. Both of them looking at their girls.

“Ready!” Will said stoked holding a flashlight

They nodded their heads and they headed down the steps. It was well-lit. Torch lights built into the stone walls. Each of them looked around. Some are more curious than others.

“How are these lit?” asked mal

“Maybe someone came down here recently to grab some bottles and forgot to turn them off?” said Will

The steps seemed to go on for at least 500 feet. The steps lead to large stone double doors. In Icelandic writing saying

“Blæðir á sviðinu og heimurinn mun fylgjast með”

“What does that say?” asked Lola

“It’s probably just some old-world fancy language to make rich people look smarter than they actually are” said Will

“Eat the rich! Eat the rich!” yelled Marnie.

“I wanna open it!” Mallory stood at the front of the group and looked back

“You guys ready?” she said with a mischievous smirk

“Not too late to go upstairs and get our money back and I don’t know? Maybe not go down into a possible torture chamber with writing none of us can understand. This isn’t another red flag to you guys?” Everyone ignored Lola. Marnie looked at her and felt bad that she dragged her into something she didn’t want to do..

“Hell yes! Open that shit!” Will yelled. Mallory pressed on it hard. Opening the stone door to show a medium-sized room covered in more torches. The wall’s lining was coated in sapphire blue markings of the same Icelandic language of the words “herbergi svalaðs þorsta” In the center of the room was a person-sized statue. A curved gold vase holding a large sapphire crystal ball. Across from them was another door similar to the one they entered. Each of them piled into the room.

“Well this is very underwhelming,” said Lola

“Yeah this is pretty lame,” said Elsie”

“Come on guys there is still a whole other door. Let’s check it out!” said Mal.

They headed towards the other door Mallory, Levi, Elsie, and Will leading the pack.

Marnie followed until Lola paused her.

“Can we talk for a sec?” Lola asked

“Sure what up?” Marnie, still a tad bit faded

Mal opened the door to show an even larger room. The room was a garnet red color and had the same language of the writing in the room before only this one read “Herbergi endalauss helvítis” only this one had a distinctive pyramid shape. The room went up to a point whereas the room before was shaped like a regular square. In the center of the room was another vase-like statue, but instead of a sapphire crystal ball. This one was garnet

“Guys come look this room is fucking huge!” Mal shouted excited

“Can it wait lo?” Marnie asked

Lola looked disappointed but also annoyed as she followed her.

The rooms began to shake causing a large stone in the garnet room to fall in front of Will. Crushing his leg. He screamed in agony as his below his knee was trapped under the stone.

“OWE MOTHER FUCKER. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!”

Lola’s eyes got wide as she and Marnie rushed to the stone pushing on it with all their might. Lola ran to the other door where they came from, but the doors were seeled shut. They were trapped.

“FUCK! I KNEW SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD HAPPEN!” Lola said

The locked and blocked doors left the group split. Lola and Marnie in the room with the blue crystal ball, and Will, Levi, Elise, and Mallory in the room with the garnet crystal ball.

The sounds of Will screaming could still be heard through the thick walls of the sapphire room. Marnie began to sob pacing back and forth in the room.

“Marnie, babe why don’t you take a seat,” Lola said calmly

“HOW CAN YOU SIT THERE SO CALM WHEN WE ARE STUCK IN HERE! YOU KNOW I FIGURED YOU WOULDN’T BE THIS CALM” Marnie screamed at Lola. Scared and frustrated.

“I’m thinking Marnie. The last thing we need is for both of us to lose our heads. That’s when we should really be scared. Just sit down here with me. We will figure something out” Lola replied

Marnie looked at Lola incredibly frightened, but also comforted by her words. She gathered herself and sat next to her. She held her knees and rocked back and forth.

“Do you remember in 10th grade when you and I went on that “sexual education” field trip to the women’s health clinic? Remember when we couldn’t stop laughing at all the girls who didn’t know what oral sex was?” Lola started laughing, causing Marnie to chuckle along a bit.

Wiping the tears from her eyes and laughing with her

“That was such a stupid fucking field trip. I remember we ditched it and ate cicis, then we went to your house and got so fucking high. ”

They both let out a laugh. Lola looked at marines lips once again as Marnie looked at the ground

“I haven’t had cicis since I last visited home. I wish we could go back to that time. I miss when we would go to stupid shit like that. I love you lo...”

It pained Lola to hear Marnie say she loved her. When she knew it was only as a friend. It still hurt her heart every time she said it.

“I love you too Marnie now and forever”

They smiled at each other. Looking deep into their eyes. Feeling things perhaps they shouldn't in a situation like this.

A loud sound of water splashing about interrupted the moment. From the top of all 4 corners of the room, a trap door filled with water began cascading into the small room. Flooding it quickly. Marnie looked around panicked and scared as the water rose around them.

“LOLA WHAT DO WE DO?” crying now hysterically she wrapped her arms around Lola’s tall body.

Lola knew what was to happen now. There was no exit in this room and soon the water would drown the both of them, she didn’t know what was happening on the other side of the wall, but she knew the fate of her other friends didn’t look too good either. Lola felt lucky however because she knew she would die with the love of her life. So Lola’s swan song went as such she grabbed at marnies face with both hands. Wiping the tears from her crystal blue eyes. Marnie looked at her terrified. “Her face is so soft. She is so beautiful even when she is petrified with fear” Lola thought to herself, and with both hands, she reached in and kissed those slushie red lips, Marines eyes lit up as they faded into Lola’s touch. Kissing her back with eagerness only to be matched by Lolas. It was just what she imagined, only better. Her lips tasted of sweet cherries and salty vanilla. Marnie always loved Lola back, but only now has she realized how much of a fool she had been for not realizing it sooner, and how much time they had wasted. None of that mattered now. The kiss consumed them as well as the water. Drowning in each other and lost in peaceful bliss….

About 3 hours after coming into the rooms. Levi was sobbing along with Mal as Elsie’s corpse sat lying in the center of the room. Levi laid there holding her hair and her body. They had melted into each other's skin. Will had already expired from his leg, his body and amputated leg laid next to him baked to a golden crisp. the smell was horrendous. his body laid on top of Mallory’s legs as she played with his fried blonde hair.

The sloshing sound got louder. Both their voices were burnt and their speech was scratchy. Worse than the worst smoker you know.

“Leeeviii dddo-do you hear that?”

He tilted his head up from Elise, tearing his skin like spider webs.

The room silent… The water came bursting in through the sapphire room filling up the garnet room. Too weak to react, Levi and Mallory’s bodies sloshed around as well as deceased bodies of their friends.

They tried to stay afloat through the Tretchuris flood. The water threw them around aggressively. The water continued to fill up to the tippy top of the room. Drowning the remaining victims. All the corpses of the 6 friends floated in the water. The garnet orb grew brightly before fading into a clear crystal ball. The water began to drain back into the ground as well as the bodies.

2 men dressed in dark emerald jumpsuits came into the room to collect the bodies. They grabbed each one, putting them in their own labeled body bags.

“Great turnout for this show. All the bodies have been sold too. Put the two lesbians next to each other. Somebody bought both of them together. Put it on ice too. That way their bodies stay looking polished.”

“How much money did we make from this show? The boss said around 40 million right?”

“About that much yes, Each of us should get about 6 million each”

The two men tagged each body. The tag read their names along with their height, eye color, sex, weight, and where they were from.

“Can’t complain with that payday. Come on let’s get the stars to the van.”

The men loaded the bodies up on a gurney. They pressed a remote at the wall in the garnet room that opened into a large garage. They put the bodies into two large Emerald Belle work trucks. Shut the door and smacked it. The two SUVs peeled off and left the large garage. Taking the remains of the friends to the airport hanger. Where each body will be shipped off to their buyer’s home. Where only the lord knows what diabolical and horrendous things will happen to them after that.
