Be My Guest!

Short Story

By Latoya M.Delbridge Published 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 8 min read

I walked through my manor, surprised I had no guest arriving at this time mid-evening. I usually anticipated my family's company, putting food and drinks together, hooting and hollering about everything under the moon.

I had just got back from a gathering, invited by a earth coven. I'm usually a lone witch but I had to admit, being around my own kind really filled a gap that had been missing.

I walked through the hall leading to my kitchen. I thought I might as well find a spell to conjure up because I was beginning to talk to myself again when mid stride I heard a knock at my door.

I turned back wondering if that was the good ole fam, but found no one there. I stepped onto the porch, looking from left to right, then left again, and there my neighbor Scott was putting out the trash. He winked at me, and threw the garbage in the bin. He always gave me that mischievous flirty grin, I was the only one who actually knew his secret, and he had no family as far as I was told. I smiled back, and shook my head, secretly flattered by his admiration.

I pointed across my shoulder, "Did you just knock on my door, I could have sworn I heard someone knocking?"

With a slight shrug of his shoulders he said no, then came walking toward my steps.

"Nothing heard over here but uh, if you want our neighbors to hear something, you can just come on over and spend the night with me, I promise I won't bite." Leaning on the railing, he stopped smiling giving me a dark look. His eyes glowed a sexy citrine yellow, I couldn't help but stare.

Suddenly there was a chill in the air that had me looking around. I didn't see a full moon or a moon at all, and the night seemed darker than normal.

"Come on Lavinia," He started to walk up the stairs slowly, making me a little uncomfortable, or maybe a lot. I folded my arms across my chest trying to stand my ground and not appear so intimidated when I was.

"When will you quit denying me what's rightfully mine." He reached out and glided his large thumb across the bare skin of my shoulder, making me all too aware of my little black tank top.

"Come on Scott stop, why do you always do this?"

He snatched my wrist up toward his mouth, I gasped as he inhaled my scent when I tried to move my hand away. He snatched me up into his arms in a death grip I didn't necessarily dislike. His hard body pinned me against the wall giving me no choice but to look into those hypnotic eyes. He smiled, making his eyes turn from spooky yellow to warm honey. I spoke softly so he wouldn't think I was angry.

"Scott, you're hurting my wrist, and please let me go, you cannot come in." I gently pushed at his chest to back him away from me, he was starting to go a little to far. I reached for the doorknob and made my way back into the door way. Groaning, he stood there with an agitated look upon his face.

"Then at least when will you invite me for dinner?" he grumbled.

I turned in the door way, "When there's a blood moon, and all the little creatures come out to play, goodnight Scott."

I left him there on the porch. How dare he try to seduce me, If I didn't know any better I would have submit to his every whim, but I was not that kind of witch and besides, I didn't just give myself to any hot guy who winked at me.

I settled in for the night, ending up eating a huge bowl of dark chocolate chex mix and watched horrible budgeted werewolf movies.

The next evening was quiet. I cleaned up and filled my potion bottles then stood in the middle of my kitchen. I waited on my girlfriends for nearly an hour now, they said they would be here. Night was falling, and I was on edge. I peeked out the window when a knock at the door caught my attention. Excited, I ran for the door, and to my surprise, Scott was standing with a single rose in his hand. I rolled my eyes, and walked away from the door; his smile faded when I turned and asked what he wanted.

"Dinner", He said lowering his voice.

" Aren't you going to let a friend in?" He motioned to come in. I granted him access and he stepped across the threshold.

"You always look so beautiful, so..., he looked me up and down, stripping me with his eyes. "So delectable."

"Delectable?" and stop staring at me like that before I kick you out."

I leaned on the wall farthest from him with my arms folded across my chest. He was in his late thirties and his age was starting to show. Those sexy lines around his mouth when he smiled sent fire licking along my skin, but I wouldn't allow him to see my reaction. While he made himself comfortable on the sofa, dark thoughts laced my mind. I was always so uncomfortable with him so near, and now in my home, what was I thinking.

"Thirsty, I'll be right back with some drinks I suppose," As i made my way into the kitchen he started to mumble but , I paid him no mind. My girl friends would so pay for this. Standing me up tonight was the worst thing those egg heads could have ever done and to leave me stranded with Scott? yeah, they're going to get an ear full. A good three minutes past when I heard him call my name. "I'll be right there." In honesty I was not ready to be in the same room with him, But now that I let him in, it was a little too late for second thoughts.

I felt a chill in the air that made me frown. It was that same feeling from yesterday night. I started to get the feeling I should have made Scott leave when I heard a loud thump. I quit my procrastination and walked towards the living room. "What was that Scott, Scott?" He was nowhere to be found. I walked by the sofa, and his shoes were neatly tucked under the table.

"Scott, seriously, this isn't the least bit funny. I am not in the mood to play games, I let you in already, you should be graceful." I looked around. It was so quiet, I almost ran back to the kitchen. How was I afraid in my own home.

I heard shuffling upstairs, and my bed moving. "What the hell are you doing!" Yelling upstairs.

I got to the top of the landing and entered my bedroom. Everything was thrown about, and my sheets were missing.

"Alright, I've been nice, but it's time for you to leave now seriously!" Picking my pillows up from the floor, I reached my lamp only to hear growling behind me. I gasped turning just in time before getting knocked off of my feet. I was hit so hard, it knocked me into next October.

My small frame smacking against the window, shattering the glass in the process.

I hit the floor face first, dazed and confused. I didn't understand what was happening nor did I want to see Scott in his true form.

I groaned and tried to use every ounce of strength I possessed to lift my head, but pain exploded in my face and all around my head. I felt warmth trickle down my nose and knew I was bleeding from my head.

"Uhh....," I moaned desperately. Feeling a presence over top of me.

"My little Vinia, your blood smell so sweet. This is gonna be better than I anticipated," Scott breathed the words into my twitching ear.

"What..." before I could get another word out I was picked up from the floor and thrown over his shoulder. I was wrapped in my own bed sheet and confused as ever.

"You never let me in my love, I never thought I'd see the day, just know that I had to do this." he laughed harshly, his cackle vibrating through my gut as he descended the steps and onto the porch.

My arms were twisted in the sheets and my legs were firmly held by his arms. I screamed and fought but he just swatted my butt and made it up to his door. I was dizzy and in pain when he closed the door and we were met with unholy darkness. I froze in place, not wanting to anger him. He growled and pulled me along, dragging me into oblivion. A light switch turned on and a fowl odor invaded my senses. Scott pulled the sheet from off of me, crouching down he smiled and stared into my eyes.

"I saved them just for you, all of our guess. This night will be special and they can watch as I finally claim you." Smiling he discarded his shirt and offered me a hand. I flinched away and got to my feet stumbling. Finally coming to, I gasped, staring in horror at the large dining table.

I screamed backing away in disbelief.

Scotts fangs elongated, his eyes turning yellow, "Is that any way to greet your loved ones!"

I tried to run but he caught me in his grasp and made me stare at my dead relatives seated at his dinner table. their eyes glazed over and their necks ripped open.

"What have you done!...mom!" I sobbed as he griped me up and walked me closer to the table. My fighting proved unmatched and I found myself staring at the face of my best friend.

"Lauren!" tears blinded me when I felt his chuckling.

"That one was something, she wanted me bad, she came on to me in the rudest of manners, so I invited her in and once I told her I belonged to you only, she broke my expensive china and that really pissed me off." he whispered in my ear, licking my earlobe in the process.

He held me tighter in his arms, "The gangs all here, are you ready sweetheart, I could get a little rough!"

I screamed as he threw me on the floor and pounced, claws ripping my tank. My family and friends watched but couldn't help and the neighbors would never hear.

Licking the side of my face "All I ever wanted was for you to be my guest Lavinia."
