American best thriller series

"You" is an enthralling American psychological thriller television series adapted from Caroline Kepnes' captivating books. Developed by the talented minds of Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, the show is a masterpiece brought to life by Berlanti Productions, Alloy Entertainment, and A+E Studios in association with Warner Horizon Television, now known as Warner Bros. Television.

The gripping narrative begins in the first season, which premiered on Lifetime in September 2018. It revolves around Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager, whose life takes a chilling turn as he becomes a serial killer with an intense fixation on a woman he falls in love with. Penn Badgley delivers an outstanding performance as Joe, alongside a talented cast including Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan, Zach Cherry, and Shay Mitchell. The first season follows Joe's toxic obsession with an aspiring writer named Guinevere Beck, whom he manipulates using social media and technology.

Following its successful debut, "You" was renewed for a second season based on Kepnes' novel "Hidden Bodies." The show moved to Netflix, and the second season was released in December 2019. In this thrilling continuation, Joe relocates to Los Angeles, where he encounters Love Quinn, a local heiress. The new season explores Joe's dark patterns of obsession and violence as he strives to make his relationship with Love work, desperate to avoid the consequences of his past actions. The addition of talented newcomers, including Victoria Pedretti, James Scully, Jenna Ortega, and Carmela Zumbado, brings an even deeper dimension to the story.

With its ever-growing popularity, "You" was granted a third season renewal by Netflix, which premiered on October 15, 2021. As the series evolves, Joe and Love find themselves married, raising their newborn son, Henry, in the picturesque Californian suburb of Madre Linda. However, the shift in their relationship dynamic leads Joe towards a new fixation on Natalie, their next-door neighbor. Love, determined to safeguard her vision of a perfect family, faces challenging decisions as she confronts Joe's compulsive tendencies head-on. This season also saw the brilliant addition of Saffron Burrows as a series regular, alongside Travis Van Winkle, Shalita Grant, Tati Gabrielle, and Dylan Arnold, who deliver captivating performances that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The thrill continues with the exciting announcement of a fourth season, where we'll witness the return of the enigmatic Joe Goldberg, portrayed by Penn Badgley. Tati Gabrielle rejoins the cast, and we eagerly welcome Charlotte Ritchie and Lukas Gage to the fold as series regulars. The anticipation builds further as Tilly Keeper, Amy Leigh Hickman, and Ed Speleers all join as series regulars, promising a gripping and electrifying continuation of this spellbinding series.

"You" is a rollercoaster of emotions, taking audiences on a journey through the darkest corners of the human mind. Prepare to be captivated by its chilling narrative, complex characters, and heart-stopping twists as you delve into the unsettling world of obsession, love, and the pursuit of the perfect family. "We've meticulously crafted these characters over four seasons, each of them fabulously wealthy, yet not all possess the same level of cunning or ruthlessness," she revealed to E! News during the same month. "With Joe now having boundless resources and access, he's become the very thing he once envied and criticized from afar, opening up exciting new possibilities for our storyline."

During this time, Badgley emphasized his anticipation for a specific conclusion to the main character's journey.

"Joe serves as the perfect tool for delving into various themes, with the safety net of acknowledging his hypocrisy. We all earnestly explore different aspects, but nobody has a flawlessly balanced perspective, and that's where Joe comes in, honestly. And I appreciate that," the actor shared with Salon in February 2023. "Even though he may think and say certain things, it doesn't necessarily mean we endorse his beliefs. However, he does touch upon something that people can identify with. To me, Joe is like a multi-faceted die with too many sides that need to be addressed."
