A Tale of Shadows and Revenge
The Curse Unfolds

Nia had just arrived at the college and checked into the hostel outside campus. As she unpacked her belongings, a cheerful voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Hi, I’m Kajal. You’re a new admission, right?"
Nia smiled warmly. "Yes, I just joined today. My name’s Nia."
"Nice name, Nia," Kajal replied, but then her tone turned serious. "Listen, be careful here. There are rumors about ragging in this college."
As Kajal warned Nia, a haunting melody floated through the air.
“Who’s singing?” Nia asked, her brows furrowing.
Kajal's face turned pale. "That voice… some say it’s the ghost of a girl who disappeared years ago."
Before Nia could react, a girl in a white sari appeared at the far end of the corridor. Her long hair covered her face, and she moved slowly toward them.
"Please, forgive me," Nia whispered in fear, clutching Kajal’s hand tightly.
But before the figure reached them, their seniors burst out laughing, breaking the eerie tension.
"Gotcha!" Anvita, one of the seniors, said with a smirk. "You two are so gullible!"
"Shame on you for scaring us like that!" Kajal snapped, trembling.
Anvita laughed harder. "Oh, this is just the beginning. Tonight, your ragging session will continue in the abandoned building behind the hostel. Let’s see if you’re brave enough to survive it."
The Haunted Challenge
Later that night, the seniors dragged Nia and Kajal to the deserted building. On the way, Rajan, a boy from the boys' hostel, joined them, intrigued by the dare.
"This place is supposedly haunted," Rajan said, holding up his phone’s flashlight.
"It’s all just rumors," Anvita scoffed.
Once inside, the seniors forced Nia and Kajal to dance. "Either you dance, or you’ll stay here all night!"
Terrified, Nia and Kajal reluctantly began to dance. But their movements froze when a blood-curdling scream echoed through the building.
"Wh-what was that?" Kajal stammered.
"Probably a stray animal," Ruby, another senior, said dismissively.
But moments later, Nia, Kajal, and Parul—one of the seniors—disappeared without a trace.
The Shadows Close In
While the rest of the group searched for their missing friends, Anvita spotted a figure with disheveled hair standing in the shadows.
"Parul, stop trying to scare us!" Anvita called out, approaching the figure.
But as she reached out, the figure grabbed her hand with an inhuman strength and pulled her violently. Anvita let out a piercing scream as she was thrown off the roof. Her lifeless body hit the ground with a sickening thud.
"Anvita!" Ruby screamed, her voice trembling. "This can’t be happening!"
As panic set in, the group tried to find a way out, but every exit seemed blocked. Meanwhile, Nia, Kajal, and Parul found themselves in another part of the building, disoriented and terrified.
"We need to stick together," Nia whispered, her voice shaking.
Suddenly, the sound of glass bangles breaking filled the air, and footsteps approached them.
"Who’s there?" Kajal shouted, her voice echoing.
The Curse Unfolds
Back with the seniors, Ruby and Rajan saw Parul standing eerily still in the hallway.
"Parul, where are the juniors?" Rajan asked, approaching her.
But as he touched her shoulder, Parul turned around, revealing her face covered in blood. Before anyone could react, an unseen force threw Rajan against the wall with such force that his skull cracked. His lifeless body slumped to the floor.
Ruby screamed in horror and started running, only to collide with a girl.
"Thank God, Parul! Let’s get out of here!" Ruby said, clinging to her.
A chilling voice replied, "I’m not Parul."
Ruby looked up and saw a girl with empty, bloodstained eyes. The girl twisted Ruby’s neck in one swift motion, silencing her forever.
The Ghost’s Tale
Meanwhile, Kajal and Nia stumbled upon a door that led outside.
"I found the exit!" Nia called out.
Kajal ran out, but when she turned, she saw Nia standing still.
"Nia, what are you doing? Let’s go!"
But as Kajal grabbed Nia’s hand, she realized it was cold and lifeless. Nia’s face morphed into that of a decayed corpse.
"You’re not Nia!" Kajal cried out, stepping back in horror.
"No, I’m not," the figure said with a haunting smile. "I was once a student here. Years ago, during a ragging incident, I was humiliated and tortured. No one helped me, and I ended my life. To protect the college’s reputation, my body was buried in this building, and everyone pretended I disappeared. But I never left. I punish those who rag others, and now it’s your turn."
The Final Moments
Kajal screamed and tried to run, but the ghost’s grip was too strong. In an instant, Kajal met the same fate as the others.
Outside, the first rays of dawn broke over the hostel. The building stood silent once more, its secrets hidden within its walls.
Back in the hostel, Kajal’s bed remained untouched, and no one spoke of what happened that night. But the haunting melody continued to echo through the corridors, a chilling reminder of the vengeful spirit that lingered within the shadows.
Fear lingers for all who step into the unknown. Some leave. Some stay forever.
