A Penny From a Ghost

An Experiment in Spirit Communication

There's hardly a person out there who hasn't lost a loved one, whether a family member or a friend. We live in hope that our loved ones are OK once they have crossed over, but yearn for some kind of proof.

Due to the sensationalism of Hollywood and its scary ghost movies and TV shows, some people are afraid of ghosts. Well, unless your Uncle Jim was a serial killer who kept body parts in his refrigerator or your Aunt Josie was a pyromaniac who continuously tried to set fire to your home, you should be pretty safe if one of your loved ones comes around.

The reality is, spirits are all around us. We just don't always know it. If you had a chance to connect with a loved one who has crossed over, would you do it? If so, I have a very simple experiment for you to try. All it takes is an open mind and a couple of minutes of your time. Are you ready?

Spirits have been known to leave pennies for those of us here on Earth. Sometimes, all we have to do is ask. To begin, clear your mind of any thoughts and think of loved ones who have crossed over. I know your first thought is to concentrate on one particular person, but the experiment works better if you open yourself up to any of the people you have cared about who have passed on.

Next, ask if someone will leave you a penny in your path sometime in the next 24 hours. That's it! That's how simple the experiment is. Now, for the next 24 hours, pay attention when you're walking and see if you find any pennies. If you do, you can try to figure out who sent it.

Check the year on the coin. Does the year have any significant meaning to someone who has crossed over, like the year they were born or the year that they died? Do you notice any particular smells associated with the penny, such as a cologne smell or the scent of tobacco?

In addition, does the image of a loved one come to mind when you hold the penny? Take a moment to clear your mind and see if you receive any images.

I tried this experiment and it worked. I had just arrived at the library and decided to clear my head and ask if anyone I knew who had passed away would leave me a penny. I felt a little silly at the time because I didn't think it would work. I got out of my car and was on my way into the library when I found a penny.

Of course, I wanted to believe the experiment worked, but the skeptical side of me took over and wondered if it was just a coincidence. After all, people drop pennies, too. Then something a little strange happened. I got a very vivid image of my deceased mother and father-in-law in my mind. Could they have actually sent the penny?

I went inside the library, and when I came out, I decided to test fate. I told them that if they were who I thought they were and if they really did leave a penny, then please leave another one so I could be sure.

I walked back to my car on the same path I had walked when I arrived at the library, and lo and behold, I found another penny! Their image was still very strong in my mind, and at the same time, I felt there was a message they were trying to give me, and that message was to let my sister-in-law (their oldest child) know that they were OK.

At this point, the skeptic in me was gone, and I truly believed I had had a mystical experience. So what about you? Are you ready to try the experiment? If you do, please let me know how it goes.

Well-wrought! Is this perhaps where the saying "a penny for your thoughts" arises? I have experiences of this sort and suspect that it chalks up to Jungian synchronicity, though I am not beyond comforting myself with the notion that the dearly departed sometimes use synchronicity as a device to communicate!

I’ve heard of pennies being signs before, but I’ve never read about someone actually trying it as an experiment and having such a vivid connection come through. Thanks for sharing.

I will need to try this. When I see a cardinal, I know it's my dad nearby saying hi, so I try to always have a message for him.
