The Law of Attraction and The Movie The Secret:

The concept of the law of attraction has become a popular one in recent years, thanks in large part to the 2006 film The Secret. The law of attraction is centered on the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring about positive or negative experiences into one's life. In other words, you can "manifest" experiences, relationships, opportunities or material possessions through the power of your thoughts and focus.

The Secret and the Origins of the Law of Attraction

While The Secret brought the law of attraction into the mainstream spotlight, the belief has long been a tenant of various spiritual practices and self-help movements. Tracing back to the New Thought movement of the 19th century, the general idea is that our thoughts and energy attract a corresponding energy from the universe. The book The Secret was written by Rhonda Byrne, examining historical writings and philosophies regarding this concept of thought energy attraction. The Secret popularized the idea that actively focusing on goals and visualizing desired outcomes attracts those very things into existence.

The Secret calls on individuals to identify goals, dreams and desires they wish to achieve, envision them coming to fruition via vision boards or visualization tactics, and believe wholeheartedly that the energy of the universe will make them so. It's essentially a ritualization of positive thinking, made tangible through concrete practices.

Tips For Applying the Law of Attraction

Here are some tips for those wishing to leverage the law of attraction in their own lives:

- Identify specific yet realistic desired outcomes, ranging from career success to relationships. Be detailed in visioning the specifics.

- Focus thought energy solely on positive visions of achieving these outcomes. Do not dwell on doubts, anxieties or worries that would undermine your belief.

- Tangibly symbolize these visions through vision boards, mock-ups, etc. Attach images and words to make the visions "real".

- Repeat positive affirmations regarding your visions daily, building faith and confidence that they will materialize.

- Let go resistance or impatience around when/how your visions will come to be. Trust that they will with positive energy.

But working with thoughts can be tricky. There is a "quicker route" used by ancient civilizations for many years & it is: SOUND.

Music has long been more than a form of entertainment. The right melody or tone can profoundly impact our state of mind and body. This intrinsic link between music and healing was understood since ancient times, woven into many medicinal and spiritual traditions.

From Egyptian temples to prehistoric Tibetan customs, cultures across antiquity relied on sound vibration and music to treat illness and invite wellbeing. Chants, songs, bells, gongs and stringed instruments were employed to balance body energies and spirits. Let's explore some notable examples:

Therapeutic instruments like rattles, clappers and drums set rhythms to facilitate trance states.

In Ancient Greece, famed philosopher Pythagoras advanced ideas on music's healing properties, finding balance and revelation in melodic ratios. Plato noted that music restored temperance to the soul. Asclepian temples used lyres and pipes during recuperative dream incubation rituals. Greek texts document musical applications addressing both physical and mental health. Played with mallet or wood dowel, the bowls produce soothing, vibrational tones guiding brain waves into therapeutic frequencies. Their effects center the mind, relieve stress, dissolve pain and restore inner harmony.

From native aborigines chanting in unison to Sufi musicians entering trance states, traditional cultures globally turned to sound healing as paramedical practice. Modern research confirms music can slow heart rates, decrease anxiety, mitigate pain, improve immunity and promote wellness. Our ancestors knew this intuitively, perhaps better understanding music's profound role in our health and consciousness.

Today, as many return to ancient modalities for healing, music therapy continues evolving as art, science and medicine. We carry ancestral knowledge that certain rhythms and frequencies unlock our deepest restorative potential. On some level, our cells remember. The archives of our DNA still hold these once ancient melodies for wellbeing. Our inner ears bend towards these healing notes across the ages - attuning us to elevating frequencies that promise to realign and revive. We need only pause to listen.
