It started as a gentle murmur beneath the earth, a whisper no one paid attention to. The city of Eldoria, known for its modern skyscrapers and technological advancements, was unprepared for what came next. At precisely 3:45 PM, the whisper turned into a roar, and the ground convulsed violently. Buildings wavered like trees in a storm, roads cracked open, and chaos swallowed the streets.
Amidst the turmoil, Dr. Alan Reeves, a renowned seismologist, clutched the edge of his desk as the shaking intensified. His research facility had been studying anomalies beneath Eldoria for years, but this quake was unlike anything recorded before. It wasn’t just the magnitude—it was the pattern. The tremors followed a precise rhythm, almost…intelligent.
And then, as suddenly as it began, the quake stopped. Silence followed, a deafening void filled only with dust and distant cries.
Chapter 2: The Rift
As emergency teams scrambled to rescue survivors, Alan and his assistant, Mira Patel, rushed to their underground lab. What they saw on the monitors made their blood run cold.
The epicenter of the earthquake wasn’t deep beneath the earth’s crust. It was barely a hundred meters below—impossible for a natural quake. But the most alarming discovery was what their ground-penetrating radar displayed: a structure. A perfect, hexagonal construct embedded in solid rock, pulsating faintly with an eerie blue glow.

As they approached, the ground trembled slightly. The door responded, shifting, unfolding like a mechanical puzzle. A gust of air, stale yet charged with energy, rushed past them.
Whatever's behind this door... it's been sealed for a very long time, Mira murmured.
Taking a deep breath, Alan stepped forward and crossed the threshold.

A tall figure stepped forward, eyes shimmering with an unnatural light. You should not be here,he said, his voice echoing unnaturally.
Chapter 5: The Guardians of Time
The beings introduced themselves as the Sentinels—an ancient race charged with maintaining temporal stability. They explained that the machine, the Time Core, was designed to prevent catastrophic events by resetting minor distortions in time. However, something had gone wrong. The Core had destabilized, sending a ripple through time itself, manifesting as the earthquake in Eldoria.
Alan’s scientific mind reeled. So you're saying...this earthquake wasn't just an earthquake. It was a temporal shift?
Precisely, a Sentinel confirmed. And if the Core is not stabilized, the damage will extend beyond your city. Entire timelines could collapse.
Mira swallowed hard. How do we fix it?"
The Sentinel studied them before speaking. One of you must enter the Core and manually reset the stabilization node. But be warned: time will try to resist. Your reality may not be the same when you return.
Alan and Mira exchanged glances. There was no choice.

Alan volunteered. The moment he stepped into the Core, he felt a force pull him in every direction. Time fractured around him—visions of past and future flickered before his eyes. He saw Eldoria in ruins, then thriving with futuristic technology. He saw himself as a child, then as an old man, and for a brief moment, he glimpsed a version of himself that never existed.
Pushing through the chaos, he reached the stabilization node—a complex console flashing red. He pressed his hand against it, feeling resistance as time itself fought back. With a final push, he activated the reset sequence.
A blinding light engulfed him.
Chapter 7: A Changed World
Alan gasped as he found himself back in the cavern. The Sentinels were gone. The machinery lay dormant. The only sign that anything had happened was Mira, standing beside him, her eyes filled with questions.
They emerged from the fissure into Eldoria. The city was intact—no collapsed buildings, no sign of an earthquake. People went about their day as if nothing had happened.
Alan checked his watch. 3:45 PM.
Mira’s voice was barely a whisper. We reset time.

I found the letter while cleaning my desk on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It was folded twice and tucked inside an old notebook I hadn’t opened in years. The paper had yellowed with age, and the ink had faded in places where my hand must have paused too long, unsure of what to say next. At first, I didn’t remember writing it. The notebook belonged to a version of my life that felt unfinished—a time when I wrote things down because I didn’t know how to speak them out loud. I sat on the floor beside the desk, unfolded the paper carefully, and read the first line. I don’t know if you’ll ever read this. The letter was addressed to my father. We hadn’t spoken properly in years. Not because of a single argument or a moment that exploded into silence, but because of many small pauses that slowly hardened into distance. He believed space would fix things. I believed time would soften them. Neither of us was completely right. The letter had been written the night I left home. As I kept reading, the memory of that night returned clearly. My bag had been packed and resting by the door. The house was quiet except for the sound of the television coming from the living room, where my father sat as if nothing important was happening.
