Story: Wall of Color (Hate and Discrimination)

Located in a corner of a small town, "Lincoln Elementary School" was an ordinary school where children of different religions and races studied together. Two friends studied in the fourth grade—Emily Johnson and Michael Roberts. Michael Roberts was fair-skinned and Emily Johnson was white. They were each other's shadows, doing everything together. Michael Roberts was a little restless, and Emily Johnson was rather calm, but their friendship was very close to see.

Every morning, the two went to school together. They sat next to each other in class, shared tiffin, and played football on the school field during tiffin. Many teachers were also impressed by such friendship. However, time is not always the same.

One day, a new teacher came to the school—Ms. Sarah Thompson. She was young in age, but she had a strict expression on her face. At first, everyone thought that she might be in favor of strict discipline. She taught about social values as well as various subjects. But gradually, something unusual began to be noticed in her words.

One day in class, Ms. Sarah Thompson said,
"You know, not all people are the same. Some are a little different. It's not good to mix with them too much. Learn to be yourself."

At first, everyone could not understand the point. But when she spoke in a way that revealed a suspicious attitude towards boys of a certain religion or group or race, it started to affect the minds of some boys.
Michael Roberts, who had been Emily Johnson's closest friend until now, unknowingly started thinking—"Maybe I made the wrong person my friend."
He no longer talked to Shafi as before, did not play, and even stopped sitting together.

Emily Johnson did not understand anything at first. She thought that maybe Michael Roberts was angry. But as the day went on, questions arose in her—"What is my fault? Why is he suddenly doing this?"

Still, Emily Johnson remained silent. Because she knew that time gives some answers.

One day, there was a special drawing competition at school. The topic was: "Love and Friendship".

Emily Johnson quietly drew a picture - two hands, one fair, the other white. They are breaking a wall of one color. The sun is rising on the other side of the wall, and the children are walking hand in hand.

The whole class was stunned by the picture. No one was making a sound. Not even Ms. Sarah Thompson said anything. Michael Roberts stood silently. As he stared at the picture, it was as if a wall had collapsed inside his mind.

The next afternoon, Michael Roberts suddenly stood in front of Emily Johnson's house. As Emily Johnson opened the door, he said,
"Don't be angry. I... I didn't understand. What I heard wasn't right. In fact, you are my best friend, I forgot that."

Emily Johnson smiled softly and said,
"Friendship doesn't need to be taught, but hate is taught. What you learned, didn't come from your mind, it came from someone else's mouth."

Michael Roberts bowed his head and said,
"Now I have learned something new, with my own eyes, in your painting. Now shall we break down that wall of color again?"

Emily Johnson extended her hand to her friend and said,
"Let's paint together again. This time, a picture where there will be no walls—only color and laughter."

Education:
People are not born learning to hate. Love, friendship, and tolerance are the true nature of humans. But hate—it has to be taught, and because it can be taught, it can also be prevented. We have to eliminate hatred and discrimination from this world and build a world of equality.
