Haunted Cemetery

The Final Resting Place

By Joseph Roy WrightPublished 2 years ago 3 min read
Respect this sacred place.

Although this is a fictional story about haunted cemeteries, I seriously advise that nobody try to contact the dead within these resting places. Not only is it disgusting and disrespectful to do so, but it is also incredibly dangerous and could land you in a lot of trouble. Whether or not you believe in the paranormal, it is important to remember that the cemetery is a sacred place that must be respected.

The Cemetery is where the dead sleep, it is their home after life has ended. It can be a place of peace, where loved ones visit the graves of those they miss, to remember who they were. It is a nice thought, to have a stone marking your existence after you have perished. The irony is, these graves can last far longer than the life span of any human. There are cemeteries still standing from thousands of years ago, some of them, you can still read the names and details of the person who passed away from Lifetimes long forgotten. Yet it is not just the stones that are eternal, but the spirits of those who haunt these very places. So now we finally get to the point of this tale.

It is important to note; visiting cemeteries during the day can rarely lead to discomfort. As the living tend to visit these places often, during this time. The dead seem to respect people more, especially when they are simply visiting their loved ones. Ghosts tend to despise those who are up to no good, and even they know that people visiting these places after dark are most likely looking for trouble. It is the tales of grave robbers, young hooligans and vandals who typically upset the ancient spirits, who dwell within these places. Some paranormal investigators have dared to disturb these resting places, just to prove the existence of the paranormal, often ending in horrific results.

One tale depicts a man named Arnold, who dared to film "footage" of paranormal activity, within the cemetery where many soldiers from the second world war were buried. This only happened a few years ago and the man in question was desperate for fame and fortune, willing to do anything to go viral on social media. Unfortunately for him, the spirits here did not care for his shameful attempts at internet stardom. If anything, this blatant disrespect towards the deceased, only angered them. So they gave him some footage all right, but it wasn't what Arnold was expecting or wanted to see. Loud booms soon began thundering all around him, the goofy influencer was at first ecstatic, until the corpses of dead troopers began climbing out of their graves, yelling obscenities at the childish intruder. Arnold soon cried and fled the cemetery, as the army of death stormed after him. Guns shooting wildly. Of course, they never actually rose from their graves. What he saw were the ghosts of soldiers, forming together in a vision of terror that most definitely worked at scaring him away. The footage was found by grave diggers who worked there and when the video was made public, nobody believed it to be real (save for a few people who thought it was truthful). An elaborate stunt like this could easily be performed, computer technology is certainly capable of creating life-like graphics and animations that can trick the untrained eye. However, one important thing to note, is that Arnold has seemingly vanished since this event took place. Many believe he had faked his death, but a hoax like this, would surely only last a few months, not years, right?

Whether or not Arnold's footage is faked, the message is still evidently clear. Do not go messing around in cemeteries, it is incredibly disrespectful and you'll only attract the wrath of those who have passed. So be respectful, or you may face a fate far worse than death!
