Anaku
The oldest recorded word

I AM THAT I AM
The term "Anaku" is the word for "I" or "me" in the reconstructed Proto-Afro-Asiatic language, estimated to be around 18,000 years old, making it one of the oldest known reconstructed words. This ancient form is the ancestor of words like the Biblical Hebrew anochi (אָנֹכִי). I find it very interesting in the context of the Bible teaching of I AM THAT I AM. I also find it very interesting of how similar it is to the word Annunaki which are rumored to be the prototype of humankind. Clearly, the focus of I AM THAT I AM is not just Biblical but deep core of who and what we are spiritually. I wrote a song about it and the lyrics are at the end.
Spiritual Meaning: Ananku (pronounced Aṇaṅku), according to the early historic Tamil belief system, refers to the sacred forces inhabiting various objects, including humans. Yes, I am aware that the spelling is slightly different. Words change. Ananku It was controlled through the performance of specific rites and rituals. Ananku was also believed to manifest in women, with the notion that in chaste women, it remained controlled and possessed auspicious potential. Would this sacred force be our soul? Or our consciousness?
Certain communities were tasked with performing the rites and rituals needed to regulate the ananku.
The belief in the ananku is notably attested in the ancient Tamil literature or the Sangam Literature of the early historic period.

ANAKU
[Verse]
In the dust where the old tongues played
Anaku whispers
It won’t fade
I
Me
The name
The spark
A flame that flickers in the dark
[Chorus]
I am that I am
I rise
I see
Anaku in the roots of eternity
From the stars
From the clay
They speak to me
Anaku
Anaku
The ancient key
[Verse 2]
Annunaki carved the skies
Golden kings with endless eyes
But the name
It stays the same
Anaku
The sound
The claim
[Prechorus]
It echoes deep
It echoes wide
A truth no shadow dares to hide
[Chorus]
I am that I am
I rise
I see
Anaku in the roots of eternity
From the stars
From the clay
They speak to me
Anaku
Anaku
The ancient key
[Bridge]
Who calls the void
Who molds the land
Anaku whispers in the sand
I am the breath
The cry
The stone
The word that shakes the marrow in the bone

I've been writing songs since I was 14, and I'm not going to share how long ago that was! I trained in songwriting and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA as well as DAW. Unfortunately, life happened and although I kept writing I was not able to push my music the way I can now thanks to technology.
I am a global nomad, and I move from place to place about every three months. I am currently in Peru.
