Kidnapping : A Horrifying Experience
Date : 10 May 2025
Location : Sirajganj to Dhaka, Bangladesh
At 3:46 PM, I left for Dhaka from Molly Aunt's house, Bangura. I reached Sirajganj Road at 5:02 PM. I kept waiting for the bus, but even though many buses like Alhambra, C-Line, Hanif came, none of them stopped. The heat was intense, so I walked towards the front and waited for the AC bus.
At this time, a white Toyota Axion (2005/2006 model) arrived, with only the driver in the car. He offered me a ride to Dhaka. After some haggling, I agreed to the fare and sat in the front. After a while, three more people arrived, negotiated the fare, and sat in the back seat. No one suspected anything at that time.
As soon as we crossed the Kuda intersection, the person behind us suddenly asked us to stop the car on the pretext of vomiting. Then the other person asked me to sit in the back. I sat in the back without understanding anything. After crossing the bridge, the person sitting in the middle suddenly came to my right side, pretending to vomit. Then suddenly three people grabbed me and tied my eyes, hands and feet. The driver then started playing music loudly in the car. I realized that he was also a member of this group.
The horrific torture began—he started hitting my hands and feet with a hammer. He learned the password for my mobile phone. He checked my mobile banking and bank card balance. Then he forced me to call various acquaintances and ask for money.
I called my wife and asked for money. But suddenly she became suspicious of such behavior. Even though she sent the money to the cash account, she warned her friends out of suspicion. A friend received a call from me and informed him that my wife had called him earlier. That's when the kidnappers realized that their activities had been caught.
Then they started discussing among themselves – whether they would kill me, where to throw me, how to dispose of the body. It was the most terrifying time of my life. Finally, they stopped the car in a secluded area. They dragged me out, dumped me in a forest and drove away.
I couldn't move due to head and leg pain. I was in a state of unconsciousness. I was lying on the side of the road, surrounded by only forest and silence. A few CNG trucks and bikes passed by, no one helped.
Finally, two CNG trucks arrived, and a few people in one of them approached me. They lifted me up and made me sit down. I told them that I had been robbed. One of them called my wife's number. Then, hearing the voices of my mother, wife, and uncles, I felt like I was reborn.
My family members then went to Mirpur police station to look for me. With the help of those people, I reached Baraipara bus stand, from where I boarded a bus bound for Dhaka. My family and the police were waiting in Gabtoli.
When my elder uncle saw me for the first time, we both had tears in our eyes. My mother, my wife Jannat, and my younger uncle ran over and hugged me. My son, who usually doesn't go near anyone except his mother, just stayed on my lap that day. He seemed to understand everything.
My one mistake—getting into an unknown car—was almost destroying my son's future.
Warning and request: Don't make the same mistake as me. Never get into an unknown microbus or private car—day or night. Avoid getting into an empty bus. Be careful when getting into a CNG bus at night in Dhaka.
I still can't move my right leg properly. I need your prayers.
Final words: This story is not just a robbery incident - it is the story of my life, where a decision made in one wrong moment could have changed my family forever.
