Yee-Haw, Saddle Up For Jonah Hex In 'Legends Of Tomorrow'!
DC's Legends of Tomorrow may be known for its jolly jaunts to the future, but for the upcoming April 13 episode we are going back, waaaay back, to the Wild Wild West.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow may be known for its jolly jaunts to the future, but for the upcoming April 13 episode we are going back, waaaay back, to the Wild Wild West. As Arthur Darvill's Rip and his team head back to deal with a gang of outlaws, expect a familiar face to pop up. It seems that ol' Rip is friends with another DC legend - Jonah Hex.
The gunslinger, played by Johnathon Schaech, makes his first appearance in episode 11 to offer some assistance to our time travellers. The synopsis for the episode, The Magnificent Eight, reads:
When the team needs a place to hide out, Rip (Arthur Darvill) sets a course for the Old West. Upon arrival, they start a fight with a gang of outlaws, putting the small town in jeopardy. Luckily, an old friend of Rip’s, Jonah Hex (guest star Johnathon Schaech), steps in to save them. Thor Freudenthal directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim (#111).

Previously played by Josh Brolin in 2010's underrated standalone, the cinematic version of Jonah Hex saw Hex recruited by the U.S. military to prevent a terrorist literally releasing hell-on-earth. Also starring John Malkovich, Megan Fox, and Michael Fassbender the film became a well-known box office bomb. The character has also appeared as several other animated versions including Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited; we have previously seen Schaech play the role in The Flash episode Welcome to Earth-2, but now he is back again for Legends of Tomorrow with his signature cowboy hat.

Jonah Hex first appeared as a full-page, in-house ad for All-Star Western #10 and has since gone on to appear in 414 issues of comics. Whilst he doesn't win friends easily, the character is one of the most reliable in the DC comic universe and his expert gun-skills and code of honour make him a great ally for any side. Thankfully DC is bringing back the scarred bounty hunter for Legends of Tomorrow, but news on whether any other wacky DC rogues will be joining remains vague - we expect that they will!
You can catch The Magnificent Eight on April 13 and see Hex in all his gun-toting glory.
