What Could We Get From 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'?
Is it time for a Venom storyline?

The Fourth instalment in the MCU's Spider-Man film series has been announced as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and has been slated for a Summer 2026 release.
Tom Holland has described the film as a "fresh start" for this next chapter in the webslinger's life, but it is sure to not forget the character's history that has been built so far. So, that begs one question. What could we get from this new era?
Well, let's look into that...
Peter Spending Too Much Time As Spider-Man

The end of Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Peter Parker losing his Aunt May, being forgotten by everyone and starting a lonely life out on his own. Then of course we got that iconic final swing in his new threads. So overall, moving forward we have a Peter Parker who is completely solo. What does this mean?
Well, it makes sense that with his lack of social circles, and Spider-Man being the only part of him that is remembered, that he will find more meaning in swinging around New York saving people. This means that we're likely to see a Spider-Man movie where Peter is mainly in his superhero outfit ala Robert Pattinson in The Batman.
As Peter tries to build a new life, it would certainly give some emotion to the story as he struggles to make new friends and have a somewhat normal life when he has buried himself into his superhero persona so heavily. It sort of dovetails Spider-Man: Homecoming, which saw Peter desperate to be Spider-Man whenever he could. Whereas this time around he would be doing the same but not for the excitement of it.
A Brand New Villain

With a brand new era for the webslinger, surely that means we're in for a brand new villain?
There have been a lot of rumours swirling around that the likes of The Scorpion will make a return to be more central in this Spider-Man story, but surely if this meant to be a fresh start then we will be getting fresh evil face to go with it.
There has reportedly been casting calls for women aged 30-40 years old to play the main villain. If that's true, who could we be looking at? Could Felicia Hardy's Black Cat be entering the fold? Maybe Silver Sable? Only time will tell at this point, but Spider-Man has a large roster of villains from the comics, so it is a good opportunity to throw in some new villains for the big screen.
A Street-Level Story

No Way Home ended with Peter Parker being forgotten by everyone, and then we saw that Peter had been crafting a new low-tech suit in the final minutes of the movie. This tells us that Peter no longer has access to his Stark Tech, and it puts him in a slightly more vulnerable situation than ever, very much like his final fight against The Vulture in Homecoming.
With less tech and running solo, it makes it appear that moving forward Spidey will be going back to his comic roots and being more of a street-level hero. So all the heroics we seen him up to around New York in Homecoming pretty much up until the Washington Monument event? It looks like we'll be getting more of that, which is more than welcome.
And there's something interesting that could come with that, but more on that later.
The Symbiote

Ever since that post-credit scene in No Way Home, we've been waiting for this, right? The final scene saw Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock preparing to go and meet Spider-Man before he is thrown back to his universe. Alas, he leaves a tiny bit of Venom behind by accident.
Guesses are that the piece of the symbiote that was left behind will still be on Eddie's new mission to track down Spidey, and this will (hopefully) bring him into contact with the man himself, kickstarting a beautiful yet chaotic new partnership of sorts.
One thing we probably shouldn't expect is a story where Peter utilises the symbiote all the way through. Although, it would be a fresh way for the Venom storyline to kick off. Peter finding the symbiote's amplified abilities useful for his crimefighting could be pretty cool, and maybe we don't see his more menacing side until his next MCU appearance?
Like we said, it's less than likely, but either way it does feel like that scene in the credits of No Way Home was done for this new era and it feels like it's building to something important. But more on that later also.
Peter Working At The Daily Bugle

This one would definitely be interesting to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Daily Bugle was introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and from the off it was J. Jonah Jameson starting a smear campaign against Spider-Man.
It started with going along with the story that he killed Mysterio, then outing his true identity as Peter Parker, and then just finding any excuse to make him look like a criminal.
We may still have J.K Simmons in the role, but the feel for this Daily Bugle is very different from the Raimi trilogy. It switches telling news stories from paper to digital, with J.J seen behind a news desk a lot of the time. It's also clear that already Peter probably holds quite a grudge against The Bugle for what the company helped do to his life.
So, how does Peter start working for The Bugle? The biggest guess is that Peter will be desperate for cash, and he'll sink as low as answering an ad from The Bugle for a photographer who can offer decent shots of Spider-Man. It would definitely help to add to Peter's attitude towards Jameson and it would also tie into the idea of Peter being pretty much addicted to his Spider-Man identity.
A New Supporting Cast

No Way Home seemed to bid farewell to MJ Watson and Ned Leeds as they headed off to MIT for their college years. Aunt May is six feet under. Even Happy Hogan is probably off being busy as he helps Pepper Potts at Stark Industries.
So this leaves space open for Peter to have a whole new supporting cast. Yeah, Zendaya is rumoured to still be a part of Brand New Day, but we can kind of hope that this is only for a brief appearance?
The question is, what characters could be entering the fold? There's a lot of characters that could fit nicely into Peter's new life. Robbie Robertson. Harry Osborn. Ben Urich. Hey, even Gwen Stacey. Who's to say this isn't the chance for Peter and Gwen to finely get their happily ever after for once?
There's a whole host of characters we could be meeting. We could even be meeting new characters from other parts of the Marvel Universe. It is said that Sadie Sink has already joined the cast. Could she maybe be joining as Jean Grey to give us our first appearance of the mutant?
Either way, we can only hope that we've got a fun new line up for this next Spider-Man chapter.
Other Heroes

We said before that there would be more to pick up on about Peter's street-level career, and here it is. The MCU is ever expanding, and we all know that Spider-Man tends to have other heroes popping up in his solo outings. With Peter becoming more mature, we probably don't want mentor roles anymore. But this means that Peter could be fighting alongside heroes instead.
Which heroes could that be? Well, the most likely candidate would of course be Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. Fans will remember that Murdock was Peter's lawyer during his troubles after his identity was revealed, so there is already some form of relationship there. Then we also have the recent events of Daredevil: Born Again's first season finale, which saw Mayor Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, declaring that all vigilante activity is now illegal. With street-level heroes now being deemed as criminals, it could make sense that these heroes will band together more often than not as they are hunted by Fisk's task force.
It also opens up opportunities for other street-level heroes to be introduced. Or reintroduced. Jessica Jones. Luke Cage. Iron Fist. There is no end to what could happen now that Daredevil has officially been pulled into the MCU.
Leading Into 'Secret Wars'

Now this one is a biggie and mainly only links to how the movie would end. We spoke before about the symbiote's part that it could play in Brand New Day, and also how it could build to something important. That something is Avengers: Secret Wars.
It is rumoured that Avengers: Doomsday will not feature Spidey as the events of that movie occur at the same time as Brand New Day. But of course we can't have Avengers: Secret Wars, an adaptation of a huge comic book event, without Spider-Man.
In that case, if Peter does bond with the symbiote in Brand New Day and sees it more as a blessing to begin with, then Secret Wars serves as a perfect next step. We can imagine that, like Ant-Man and The Wasp's way of leading into Avengers: Endgame, Brand New Day will do the same if the above rumour is true. The likely scenario this time around is that Peter will find himself transferred to Battleworld where he will be dumped with other heroes from across the multiverse.
Whilst on Battleworld, that is where Peter will begin to feel the rage and impulses that come from the symbiote. Likely to shrug off the opinions of his fellow heroes, Peter will stay bonded with the symbiote and this would then lead on nicely into a fifth Spidey movie where Peter will then start to realise how right everyone was and that the symbiote is in fact dangerous.
Don't get us wrong. It is likely Peter could bond for the first time during Secret Wars itself and the story could go on from there, but hey, we are entitled to have fun and theorise from what we know already.
All in all, this new trilogy could incorporate a very interesting Venom storyline.
Whatever this next era of Spider-Man brings, it is sure to be a very good one as we get more comic accurate than ever.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit cinemas July 31, 2026.
