The Young and the Restless: Spoilers indicate Summer will return to Genoa City

Hunter King returns to The Young and the Restless

Fans of The Young and the Restless were unhappy when Michael Mealor and Hunter King left their roles as Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman in 2021. The duo were fan favorites and viewers have been wondering if they would return or if their characters would be recast. There is an update related to Summer although there is no official confirmation.

According to Soap Hub King will soon show up on Y&R when her character comes to Genoa City for a visit but the spoiler may have jumped the gun. On Tuesday Summer talked with her mother Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) via video chat and she might or might actually not return to her hometown. Fans of King should take heed because the spoiler also reports that a casting call has gone out for the role of Summer.

There is no news on Michael Mealor but Kyle's older brother Keemo (Phillip Moon) is being considered as the person who has been texting Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) from LA. Some fans believe Keemo might return to town and replace his sibling by working at Jabot. The fact that Phyllis and Jack were discussing him after he has been gone from Genoa City since 1996 has viewers believing that Moon or a replacement will soon show up.

One or both of Jack's sons could return to Genoa City

Some Y&R fans are saying it would be great if both Keemo and Kyle returned to Genoa City and began vying for the top spot at Jabot. It's been a long time since there was any action inside of that company and once upon a time Jabot was front and center just as Newman Enterprises continues to be.

King has done double duty in the past by working on The Young and the Restless and Life in Pieces simultaneously. Both she and Mealor decided to try their hand at other projects without being tied down by the CBS daytime drama schedule. There has been no word on Kyle's portrayer being involved in other acting roles so fans will be hoping he comes back to his beloved character.

King is currently filming a Top Dead Center FIlm that is untitled but she obviously has room in her schedule to make a quick stop at Y&R. There are no details regarding why Summer is coming back to Genoa City, how long she will remain or if Kyle will be with her.

The Young and the Restless Skyle fans are ever hopeful

The Young and the Restless viewers will be wondering what it means that there is a casting call out for a new Summer but not Kyle. This would seem to indicate several things. If true this would mean that King has decided she is not coming back to the role long-term and a new Summer is needed. If the video chat is the "return" that spoilers announced then Summer will remain in Milan with Kyle and Harrison.

If there will be a replacement for King this also suggests that either Mealor or a recast is returning with the new Summer or Kyle will not come back to Genoa City and remain in Milan. Skyle fans will not like to think that the couple has broken up but perhaps this is not what will happen and there is a different explanation. The Young and the Restless might begin looking for a new actor to portray Kyle at a later date. Skyle fans are loyal and remain ever hopeful and will be watching to see how this plays out.

If Mealor and King are replaced this will be a blow to those who love them. The thing to remember is that both actors walked away and were not let go by CBS execs.
