Phyllis may be in for a surprise

Spoilers for The Young and the Restless hint at several upcoming changes in Genoa City. One involves Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who might soon find herself down and out, but not for long. One door could close and another open just as quickly.

Phyllis always lands on her feet, having survived job changes in the past, including her time at the Grand Phoenix hotel and Jabot Cosmetics. Her past work with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) was when they were lovers.

At the same time, she was still married to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Billy is currently dissatisfied with her careless behavior toward their recent venture and may soon consider firing her. Y&R viewers have noticed that these two have not been able to get things off the ground the way they desire. It's just not working, and now their collaboration could be coming to an end.

Would Summer fire her mother?

Some fans of The Young and the Restless thought Billy and Phyllis might become involved romantically again, and their work relationship would thrive. This is not the way things worked out so its probably best they part ways.

Phyllis has become a headache to Billy, and her nonchalant attitude does not help. She will be stunned and in denial if he lets her go, but she may not be out of work for long. Another job offer might be waiting for her. Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) has decided to work with Adam Newman ( Mark Grossman) at Newman Media, so her Marchetti position will be available.

Adam told Chelsea that Summer Newman (Alison Lanier) should have no trouble finding another person to fill the Creative Director position, and spoilers suggest she might hire her mom. If Phylis finds out that Chelsea has jumped ship, she might ask her daughter to give her a chance. Phyllis is not above begging when trying to persuade others to see things her way.

Summer might be coerced into hiring her mom

Summer probably will not offer the job to her mother initially because she knows the risks and the drama that will ensue. She could, however, end up in a situation where she has no choice if Chelsea's position is not filled soon. Summer could be swamped with work, and a crisis could ensue. Her mother could end up being a lifesaver.

Genoa City residents have been making significant changes related to employment for the past few years on Y&R. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) Phyllis, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), Daniel Romalatti (Michael Grazeadei), and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) are just a few GC residents whose employment statuses continue to evolve. Only Victor and Jack remain at the helm of their respective companies.

Will it be over before it begins?

Phyllis being employed by her daughter will probably not work out in the long run, but it will be a shift, and Y&R viewers will likely see more of the Marchetti setup. Ms. Summers was disappointed when she, Daniel, and Billy did not get to work together because that was her dream. Perhaps working with Summer will give her the satisfaction of being close to at least one of her children.

The Young and the Restless viewers know that wherever Phylis goes, trouble follows. She cannot help herself and will make crazy decisions that Summer disapproves of. If spoilers are correct and she is hired at Marchetti how long will it take before she blows up the situation? Things could be over before they begin, but there is always the chance that this will work out for the long haul.
