The Young and the Restless: Kyle and Harrison headed to Genoa City without Summer

The return of Diane Jenkins has set some things in motion that have led to her son and grandson returning from Milan.

Jack convinces Kyle to return to Genoa City

Wednesday on The Young and the Restless, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) told Phyllis Summers ( Michelle Stafford) that Kyle Abbott ( Michael Mealor) and Harrison Locke ( last played by Kellan Enriquez) are on their way back to Genoa City. Mealor has been confirmed as returning to the CBS soap but nothing has been said regarding Harrison’s portrayer. This is good news for Jack who needs his family's support at this time. Y&R viewers will also be happy to see Kyle and his son back in the mix.

Summer Newman, (last portrayed by Hunter King) was not mentioned so obviously Y&R has not yet found a replacement. Both King and Mealor left the CBS soap in October due to contract disputes. King is currently filming an unnamed horror movie and in February it was reported that a casting call had gone out for an actress to portray Summer.

For now, Kyle will be alone as he deals with the news that his mother Diane Jenkins ( Susan Walters) is still alive. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) did not want his son to be bothered with this messy situation but Phyllis Summers (Michel Stafford advised him to contact Kyle before Diane got to him first. The conversation between father and son was not shown on screen so viewers don’t know if Kyle is aware of why he is headed back to Genoa City or not.

Kyle returns home to chaos

No date has been set for Kyle's return but in the meantime, there will be major drama in Genoa City. Jack and Phyllis will soon be back home and it’s likely Diane will follow. The Young and the Restless has been showing flashbacks of the problems these women had when Jack and Phyllis were married and Diane lived in the pool house. Their rivalry knew no boundaries as in one scene Phyllis came out to the pool naked.

Diane had been trying to seduce Jack by putting on a swimsuit, and getting him asking him to join her in the pool. At the sight of Phyllis, she pointed out that children were in the house. Dian

Phyllis responded by saying “ There are children in the house and I’m naked.” Jack only had eyes for his wife and dismissed a stunned Diane. Fans of The Young and the Restless are saying they don’t like that Diane was brought back into the picture and hope the character soon leaves. This is no reflection on Watkins but referring to the havoc that comes with Kyle’s mom.

Kyle and Summer could be in jeopardy

Kyle and Summer grew up together as step-siblings in the same home when their parents were married. They were too young to realize what was taking place with Jack, Phyllis, and Diane. Now Kyle will see for himself how vindictive his mother is, beginning with the fact that she abandoned him. Some Y&R fans feel cheated that there was no on-screen wedding while King was still with the show.

Instead, Skyle showed up at the lavish farce that was the nuptials of Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) Summer will now be forced to give up her dream job in Italy unless The Young and the Restless does not find a replacement and they break the couple up and leave Summer in Milan. If a new Sumer arrives in town she might find herself battling her monster in law alongside her mother. The only thing known, for certain is that Kyle is headed back to Genoa City and his life will never be the same.
