The Joys of Christmas
The many reasons why I love this festive time of year
Hello December! Happy Holidays. Happy Hannukah. Season's Greetings. Feliz Navidad. Happy Kwanzaa. Merry Christmas. However you say it, we all love this time of year. There's a lot of things I love about Christmas, which I'll get to that in a moment. The debate whether how early is too early to think about Christmas will always be a main talking point every year. The responses will always be split. In this story, I'll share the reasons why I love this holiday so much. After you're done reading this story, feel free to share your favorite Christmas memories in the comments section below. Please give it a like once you've read this story. Make sure you follow me on my socials. Finally, like this story and please leave a generous one-off tip. It'll be found at the end of this story. Big or small, your tips will support creators like me so we can keep publishing new stories and share them with everyone.
Now let's get to the story.
Christmas Movies
The holiday season is never complete without a good Christmas movie. One of my favorite movies to watch during this time of year is Home Alone, which happens to be their 35th anniversary. At the time of the movie's 1990 theatrical release, I was 3 years old. Another classic I enjoy the most is A Christmas Story, which was released in 1983. For several years on Christmas Eve, I would watch that movie on TBS, because they had a marathon where they would air that movie for 24 hours from Christmas Eve through Christmas night. That was one of my traditions at the time. Other favorites of mine include National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Jingle All The Way, and The Santa Clause. The decades-long debate that comes up is whether or not Die Hard is considered a Christmas movie. I'll let y'all debate that amongst yourselves in the comments below. Also, let me know what are some of your favorite Christmas movies of all time.
Toys
From Power Rangers action figures to Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, I've always looked forward to Christmas morning. Growing up in the 90s in Texas was the perfect time to be a kid. If you've read my numerous stories about my life on Vocal, I didn't have the most loving and supportive parents. Nevertheless, Christmas was one of the few memories I enjoyed.
Christmas Decor
Just like the aforementioned Die Hard debate, people have been debating when it's the right time to hang up their lights, put up their Christmas trees, and so on. Some start at the beginning of November, while others wait until after Thanksgiving. For me, I usually hang up my decor at the beginning of November. I love seeing Christmas lights and other decor everywhere I go. To me, they represent joy and happiness. They always put a smile on my face.
Christmas Music
Last but not least, there wouldn't be a holiday season without listening to some Christmas music. You've probably have heard at least one your favorite songs from a movie or tv show. In the early 2000s, Hilary Duff starred in the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire. Soon after its debut, she released her first Christmas album, Santa Claus Lane, in November 2002. The title track, Tell Me A Story (featuring Romeo), Same Old Christmas (featuring her older sister, Haylie), and When The Snow Falls Down in Tinseltown, were my favorite songs from the album. Radio Disney had a special where Duff was the guest and all of the songs from her album were played. Nearly 25 years later, I listen to this album before and during the holiday season. Santa Claus Lane is my overall favorite Christmas album. I listen to other Christmas songs, too. Share in the comments below your favorite Christmas song that gets you in the mood.
