The identity of Kelly Thiebaud's character has General Hospital fans divided
There are multiple opinions on what will happen next in Port Charles.
Is she Britt or another?
General Hospital viewers remain divided on whether Kelly Thiebaud has returned as Britt Westbourne or is playing a different character. Some fans speculate that the soap veteran is portraying a nefarious woman linked to Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard).
There has been considerable discussion about the character lately, particularly with Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) recounting how he fell into the Metro Court pool and accidentally knocked Dr. Westbourne in with him.
Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zampragna) are revisiting the pain of Britt having stolen their embryo. Interestingly, during her last years in Port Charles, no one was talking about Britt giving birth to the Falconeris' child; that topic seemed to be long buried.
If not Dr. Westbourne-then who?
Now, however, the issue has resurfaced thanks to Brook Lynn Chase's (Amanda Setton's) snooping. Some General Hospital fans believe that Liesl Obrecht only returned to Port Charles as a red herring. She spoke to Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) about her Britta, leading viewers to assume there might be a mother-daughter reunion.
If Dr. Westbourne is indeed back, there would be many questions to answer: How did she survive? Where has she been? Who knew about it? And what is she up to now? Liesel said nothing to Rocco to indicate she knew her child was alive.
Other GH cast have return as different characters
In the past, General Hospital has had other cast members return as different characters. For example, Tamara Braun and Sarah Joy Brown both portrayed Carly Corinthos before Laura Wright took over the role. Braun later returned as Dr. Kim Nero, while Brown went on to play Claudia Zacchara. No one ever pointed out that these characters looked like the ones they previously played.
Roger Howarth has portrayed three GH characters, Todd Manning, Franco Baldwin, and Austin Gatlin Holt, with each one being separate and distinct; there was never any acknowledgment that one looked like the other.
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) seemed to recognize the woman in their airport as Britt, but fans didn't know that for certain. What if he calls her another name and does not acknowledge her as Britt? Anything is possible until more information is revealed.
Will this be Jason's new love?
If Thiebaud is not playing Britt, her appearance in Port Charles will certainly draw attention due to her resemblance to Britt, which could elicit various responses from the characters. Jason had been thinking abotu Britt recently, and Sasha Gilmore (Sophia Mattsson) encouraged him to find love again. Whoever Kelly's character turns out ot be could be a love interest for Jason or again, used as a red herring to engage fans.
If this woman is not Obrecht's daughter, she will be shocked by the similarity. The actress left the ABC soap in 2023 for a stint on Station 19, which has since been canceled. She moved to London but returned to the U.S. to discuss her character's unfinished business with General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini.
The teasers send mixed signals
This suggests that Kelly Thiebaud has returned as Britt, yet mixed signals persist. General Hospital has kept the truth under wraps, as now that Kelly is on the air, she has been taping scenes for four to six weeks. So far, no spoilers nor Gh representatives have revealed who the mystery woman is.
