The Dinner Party

One of my life-long dreams is finally coming true. I am getting to host a dinner party and invite whoever I want to it. There are so many that I have always wanted to sit down with and talk to. This is a chance of a lifetime, and I want to make sure everything is ready for it.

First off, the guest list. As a huge music fan, there will be my biggest idols, including the Beatles, Jeff Lynne, Buddy Holly, and Tom Petty. We could have a really cool jam session after dinner. Life goal officially completed. I’m going to have to make sure I sit by George Harrison. I will also have my favorite actors there as well, Dick Van Dyke, Jimmy Stewart, and Bob Newhart. I’m going to finish off my guest list with my grandparents and parents.

We will have a vegetarian dinner. We’ll start off with a nice caesar salad. Our main entree will consist of vegetarian lasagna and garlic bread. We will follow that with cheesecake and champagne. I’m going to have it catered by a local Italian restaurant, as I’m not that great of a cook.

The setting will be beautiful, but also pretty casual. We’re going to have a long table with a beautiful white tablecloth, with flowers and candles serving as centerpieces. Above us, a brightly-lit chandelier. It will have a piano in the corner for after dinner entertainment. There will be soft music playing as we eat and talk. The atmosphere will be warm and friendly. I want everybody to feel comfortable and to be able to have fun.

After dinner, we will all entertain. We’ll start off with a song and dance number from Dick Van Dyke. Next, Newhart will tell a hilarious story that will have all of us in stitches. Jeff Lynne will follow suit with an acoustic version of one of his biggest hits. Buddy Holly will be next, singing “Maybe Baby.” Afterwards, the Beatles will take center-stage, making my childhood dream of seeing them perform live come true. Tom Petty will finish it off by singing a couple of his songs. When he sings his last song, there will be a huge jam session with everybody taking the stage together and doing a medley of some favorites.

Once we are done with our jam, we will sit in the living room and talk about anything and everything. It’s a fun time and everyone is enjoying being together. There’s a lovely fireplace that we will sit around and talk about old times, and how music has changed over the years. We’ll also have a good laugh at rumors that have been circulating over the years, as the one that Paul McCartney was actually replaced with a double.

Eventually, we will have to put an end to the evening, and go our separate ways. Most of my guests will have to go back to Rock and Roll Heaven, the others will simply go home. I will talk a bit more with my parents and grandparents before they have to go back to Heaven as well. Mampau will tease me about finally getting to meet George. It will be hard to end this dream evening, as I got to spend it with my favorite people. The memories will last a lifetime. Many of my to-dos on my bucket list will be crossed off, and I will go to bed with a huge smile on my face. I have a souvenir in a guitar pick that George gave me, that I will put up in a special place. The perfect ending to the perfect night.
