The Brave Shepherd
A young boy’s courage defeats a mighty warrior

The Brave Shepherd
A fierce war broke out between Israel and the Philistines. The Philistine army took position on one hill, while the Israeli army fortified another. For months, the battle raged, with thousands of soldiers losing their lives, yet no clear victory was in sight.
One day, a terrifying and thunderous voice echoed through the Israeli camps. The soldiers stepped out to see a giant Philistine warrior approaching them. As he came closer, he roared, My name is Goliath Is there a warrior among you brave enough to face me If I lose, the Philistines will surrender to you, but if your warrior is defeated, Israel will become our slaves Goliath then let out a thunderous laugh, breaking the silence of the battlefield.
Seeing his enormous size and strength, the Israeli soldiers were filled with fear. No one dared to step forward. Day after day, Goliath would challenge them, stealing their supplies while the Israeli army remained paralyzed with fear.
One day, a young shepherd named David arrived at the Israeli camp to visit his brothers, who were soldiers in the army. As he spoke to them, he heard the same booming voice Cowards Is there anyone among you who dares to fight me Ha... ha... ha
David turned to his brothers and asked, Who is this man Why is he challenging us
His brothers replied, He is Goliath, the mighty warrior of the Philistine army. He challenges us daily, but no one dares to fight him.
Why is no one accepting his challenge David asked. If no one stops him, one day, he will conquer our land
His brothers sighed, David, his body is so massive that if he falls on someone, he will crush them to death. That is why no one dares to fight him. He is like a giant
David was deeply disturbed by this. He made up his mind to fight Goliath. Without telling anyone, he climbed down the hill and gathered small, sharp stones in his pouch.
Returning to the camp, David called out to Goliath, Goliath I will fight you Face me
David, dont go near him his brothers pleaded. He will crush you under his feet Go back to your village But David refused to listen.
Goliath saw a young boy challenging him and mocked, Hahaha You will fight me A mere boy This is laughable
Yes, I will fight you, David replied confidently, placing a sharp stone into his sling—a tool shepherds used to scare away wild animals.
Goliath roared, I will crush you in an instant He charged toward David. But before Goliath could get too close, David swung his sling with lightning speed and hurled a stone straight at Goliaths forehead. The stone struck him hard, and he stumbled. Without wasting a second, David fired more stones at him. Goliath let out a final cry, tumbled down the hill, and fell into a deep ravine, dead.
Seeing their mighty warrior fall, the Philistine army panicked and fled. The Israeli soldiers chased them, capturing many and seizing their belongings.
Thus, with his courage and intelligence, David singlehandedly defeated the Philistines, who had been Israels enemies for generations. Later, this young shepherd, David, became the King of Israel. He ruled wisely for many years, and despite his victory, he never sought revenge against the Philistines.
