The Boys

Episode 7

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

Wow, a lot happened last episode. Butcher realizes that he has been hallucinating Joe, and he finds out that the only way to modify the virus is to make it airborne, therefore killing all the Supes. It seems like the only reason that this makes Butcher hesitate is Ryan. Then we have the fact that now Firecracker has finally gotten in with Homelander and our big, evil, all powerful villain is back to breastfeeding. This does give her some level of power over him now.

We are starting off the episode with a Sesame street like Christmas special approved by Homelander. And here we see Ryan not so on board with everything his dad is still. So there might still be home for Ryan.

Then we have a meeting with Ashley, Homelander, Sage and Firecracker. Now Sage’s original thoughts on Homelander are proven 100% correct. First of all Homelander is super easy to manipulate, and it's because Firecracker strokes his ego. He really does need to feel like he is the smartest person in the room.

Butcher comes clean with the rest of his team, at least about his extracurricular activities. And Joe Kessler continues to be the devil in his ear. He decides to keep the brain eating, hallucinating, causing tumor to himself.

Frenchie was released and now things are TENSE between him and Kimiko. Obviously he wouldn’t let her visit him. Their relationship has been one of the best things from this show since the very beginning and watching them fall apart this season really just hammers home the feeling that everything is falling apart. This season is more emotionally traumatizing then any other and we are really getting to a point where there is nothing else to do, nowhere left to run. Shit is hitting the fan this season.

A-Train is getting a great arc this season. MM is wanting to bail out, because he is clearly losing himself in this fight against supes. And he really does not look good. But A-Train gives him perspective, as long as Homelander is alive there is no running away. There is no escaping.

Firecracker and Homelander no longer trust Sage to find their leak. Now Firecracker is a fucking idiot so she’s really bad at this. She brings him Web Weaver who is so obviously not the leak and then she has the audacity to look horrified when Homelander ripped him in half.

Kimiko and Frenchie have a moment, and oh my god I love Kimiko so so much. Karen Fukuhara carries this show so hard. Look it's a great show and the entire cast is great but Karen is the heart of it and I will die on that hill.

Honestly I could not care less about the Deep or his weird, shitty storyline between him and this octopus. It's weird and drawn out and no one really cares about his character, he adds nothing to the show and contributes nothing to the story. I’m over it. If he didn’t appear on screen for the rest of the series I probably wouldn’t even notice.

YAY A-TRAIN!!!! He basically declared himself an official member of the Boys when he saves Annie from Deep and Black Noir (who has random, undetermined powers apparently). Then my Starlight puts the smackdown on Deep, it's really a shame that they didn’t kill him.

My Kimiko almost dies and it literally gives me an anxiety attack. Look I’ve got a long list of people that will probably die this season and I swear to god if Kimiko is one of them I will be exchanging words with Erik Kripke.

This season has been a lot more about emotionally tearing down our characters. I think it really goes to show how long they have been in this fight and how far they have fallen. This is going to be the season where things really have to come to a head because season 5 is going to be the last one. We have yet to see any significant deaths but I highly doubt that the season will end that way. This was the second to last episode so let's see if they can wrap this up by the end of next episode.
