The 15 Best 'Ghost Whisperer' Episodes
And Why They're Worth Watching in 2 Sentences or Less

Episode descriptions MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS if you have never seen the show before.
At the very least, I recommend having an idea of what the show's premise is before reading this article.
Ghost Whisperer is such a fascinating show and I decided not too long ago to do a full rewatch and I have to say, it holds up surprisingly well. It's by no means perfect and like with any show from the mid/late 2000s, improvements can always be made but I still had a fantastic time with this.
The characters are wonderful, the plots (and the ghosts involved) are very often interesting, and it's just an entertaining time overall. That being said, I've compiled together a list of my top 15 episodes, each one with a little explanation as to why these particular episodes are so good and worth watching.
15) 4x04: Save Our Souls
A murder mystery set on a cruise that has both Melinda and Jim getting up close and personal with the ghosts to figure out what happened.
14) 2x22: The Gathering
A fascinating, intense, and emotional episode as some of Melinda’s previous ghost work rears its head again.
13) 3x03: Haunted Hero
Visions and flashbacks are paced wonderfully to help bring out the truth behind the episode’s storyline and the Ghost of the Week as Melinda struggles to help.
12) 2x01: Love Never Dies
A tense and entertaining episode that focuses heavily on the dynamic between Melinda and Andrea as well as exploring the possibility of being unable to cross over and the devastations involved with that.
11) 3x04: No Safe Place
A creepy twist on the usual Ghost of the Week episodes that draws Melinda into the centre of the plot in a much different way.
10) 2x11: Cat’s Claw
A wonderful use of visions and flashbacks as the mystery of the episode unfolds and along the way, one of the characters we know and love finds out the truth about Melinda.
9) 3x18: Pater Familias
The use of bodily possession helps reveal plot points and details of Melinda’s past and family in a thrilling episode with many highs and lows.
8) 4x07: Threshold
An emotional look at Melinda battling with her own beliefs as she copes with a huge change in her life that disrupts her motivation to help ghosts move on.
7) 1x15: Melinda’s First Ghost
A fantastic look into Melinda’s past and how her powers affected her childhood.
6) 3x16: Deadbeat Dads
Full to the brim with family content (past and present) but with the typical darkness and emotional turns frequent in Ghost Whisperer.
5) 1x05: Lost Boys
A heartbreaking yet warming episode with tie-ins to Peter Pan.
4) 2x13: Deja Boo
While episodes often look into crossing over or being stuck with the living, this one touches on reincarnation with curious tie-ins to some of the characters we know and love.
3) 1x20: The Vanishing
An emotional and jarring episode that while having the typical kind of storyline expected of this show, it also has an interesting twist that complicates things for Melinda and those she helps.
2) 1x01: Pilot
A fantastic introduction to the overall concept of the show as well as allowing us to meet the characters. It manages to tell us, the audience, what we might come to expect from the show while balancing that line between easing us in and getting straight to the point.
1) 1x21: Free Fall + 1x22: The One
(These episodes work better when watched together hence why they're sharing a spot.)
Some wonderful tension-building results in a well-paced and dramatic two-part (season one) finale that in terms of plot, characters, and ghosts is on a much larger scale than anything we've ever seen at this point in the show.
Whether it's on this list or not, do you have a favourite episode? I'd love to know!
