Unfounded rumors about Steve Burton have surfaced

The rumors are flying fast and furious that Steve Burton is leaving General Hospital. Daily Spoilers says he is breaking his contract because he disagrees with the current storyline for his character. Many fans are enjoying watching Jason Morgan spend time with Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) and helping Sasha Gilmore (Sophia Mattsson), but allegedly, the actor does not like the watered-down version of Stone Cold.

Burton signed a two-year contract with GH in 2024, and he said he was happy to return. Of course, in 2013, he left the ABC soap, saying he was done with daytime, yet here he is. At that time, Burton joined The Young and the Restless as Dillon MacAvoy but left the role to play Jason again.

Is Burton against Brad and Lucas?

A post on a General Hospital Facebook group indicates that Burton does not like the love scenes between Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) and Lucas Jones ( Van Hanis). There is no evidence that this is true, and it might be a disgruntled viewer using Burton to share their own feelings.

Since yesterday, quite a few people have shared in FB groups that they don't want to see love scenes with Brad and Lucas. Respondents told them all to change the channel or stop watching the show and to quit posting bigotry online. Meanwhile, there is nothing to suggest that Steve Burton has a problem with Brad and Lucas as a couple.

Burton has not addressed the rumors

Rumors that the soap vet was leaving General Hospital began surfacing last year. Some were from unreliable websites that appeared to be clickbait. Others were trying to gain understanding and find the truth, but nothing has been confirmed.

Steve Burton does a podcast with GH castmate Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli), and the duo tours together, meeting fans. He has not shared anything about wanting to walk away from the soap until the rumblings remain unfounded rumors.

GH fans disagree on whether Jason should change

When Jason first joined the General Hospital cast he was a teenager. His personality changed after a brain injury due to an accident. He has been in his Stone Cold persona for decades, ending people at the request of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Sonny is thinking about shutting down his illegal businesses due to his heart health issues. Once Jens Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is dealt with this might happen.

Sonny's changes plus Danny needing his dad now that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) has passed away could lead Jason to become more domesticated. Some GH fans say they welcome the kinder gentler Jason who is getting along with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Others want him to remain a mob enforcer and stay Stone Cold.

Viewers say they don't agree with Drew Quartermaine becoming the villain as his twin becomes "the good one." Until the news of Steve Burton's departure comes from his own mouth, General Hospital execs, or trusted soap spoilers fans should not be too concerned.

Not all news outlets can be trusted

There once was a time when you could easily say "Where there is smoke there is fire" regarding rumors. Today, some of what is online is clickbait to get views which translates into dollars.

Soap fans are passionate about their favorite daytime drama and the characters leading them to share news when they see it. Unfortunately not everything on the web can be trusted. If Steve Burton is considering leaving General Hospital before his contract expires there is no credible coincidence to back that up at least not at this time.
