THE STAR WARS COMIC EVENT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR!

The notorious bounty hunter BOBA FETT has finally landed his greatest prize – HAN SOLO, frozen in carbonite for easy transport. Fett will bring the smuggler to TATOOINE to collect the massive bounty placed on Solo’s head by the fearsome crime lord JABBA THE HUTT. Sounds easy. What could go wrong?

Now I am not sure we ever saw what happened when Boba caught Han and then transported him to Jabba before now. Granted I’m not the kind of die-hard fan that some are but I will say that this is one of those stories that we all know about, okay not all but anyone who has seen the films will know where this fits into the franchise chronologically. Now I will read pretty much every single story Charles will write because the man has some skill and talent when it comes to writing and that he is able to bring the reader into the story is phenomenal to see.

I love the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of event unfold as well as how the reader learns information is perfectly presented. This a Boba story pure and simple and people love this guy who barely made an appearance in the films but who drew the fascination of so many. This just adds to his mystique and I have to admit he is fast becoming one of my favourite characters now. The character development is amazing and how we see the interactions, dialogue and how they act and react to the situations and circumstances they encounter which flesh them out as people even more. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing how the story is going to be it is incredibly easy to get caught up in this.

I like how we see this being structured and how the layers within the story are emerging setting the entire story up is absolutely stunning to see. So much new information is being presented and it’s rather glorious. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is perfectly achieved.

Steve’s work on the interiors is phenomenal. The linework is exquisitely laid down and how the varying weights and techniques are utilised to create this level and quality in the detail work is mindbogglingly brilliant. That we see backgrounds utilised as we do bring so much more ot the moments while also bringing us this great depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the book. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a masters eye for storytelling. The creativity and imagination on display throughout these pages show such a brilliant eye for bringing the unusual to life and making them feel normal. The colour work is beyond brilliant. How we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work is amazing. The choices of colours, how light sources change colours, and the craziness that is the carbonite breaking down are all moments that are subtle but so incredible to see.

Having never been the Star Wars guy, just a casual fan if you will, this has me totally excited. There’s an easy to follow storyline and it’s going to get crazy involved and the fact like it’s keep away with Han Solo being the prize it just promises to be a good time. This amazingly well written and brilliantly illustrated story that kicks off a Star Wars event that regardless of your fan and familiarity level you’ll enjoy.
