Sophia Mattson says goodbye to General Hospital to work on other projects

It's a wrap for Sophia Mattsson

TV Insider reveals that Sophia Mattsson has confirmed that Friday, July 18 was her last day on General Hospital. During her seven years on the show her character has dealt with extreme trauma and losses.

Sasha Gilmore overcame pretending to be the daughter of Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), a disfunctional relationship with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober0. and drug addiction.

Sasha has survived a lot

Sasha endured the death of her baby Liam and later Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) died. Sasha had a mental breakdown and was gaslighted by Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burrows). She went from being the Face of Deception to a cook in the Quartermaine home which angered many GH fans.

She found out that Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) was her first cousin so their relationship ended and now has fled Port Charles for the safety of her baby daughter Daisy Gilmore Corinthos (Levi and Clark Coughlin), with Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). Some website say Daisy is portrayed by Evelyn and Brenden Beimford.

Willow is the reason for the confusion

Sasha wrongly believes that enemies of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) have targeted his grandchild but GH viewers know that Willow Tate (Katelyn MacMullen) is the one who has been sneaking around the Q house and moving Daisy.

Willow had a smirk on hr face when she realized Michael was losing hsi infant daughter which did not go unnoticed by her aunt Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati).Liesel warned Nina that something was wrong with her daughter and she has no idea how right she is.

Robert Scorpio returned

Sasha was escorted by Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to the home where Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) are currently staying. GH viewers were exxcited to see Rogers who just announced that he is battling cancer but asked for privacy.

Mattsson, like Chad Duell who previously portrayed Michael decided she wanted to ty some new roles. Fans wish them both well in their future endeavors.

The Scorpio family reunion

Robert was overjoyed at seeing his daughter and granddaughter so it looks like they may have a happily ever after. The scenes with Sasha, Robert, and Daisy were priceless especially since viewers don't know if Rogers will make any more appearances as he battles cancer.

Samms has gone back to Europe, where she continues to battle the symptons of long-covid so Holly wll not be around anytime soon. Fans still hope the Scorpio family will return to Port Charles in the near future.

Initially, some General Hospital viewers thought Sasha and Jason might fall in love but she told him on Friday that he needed to look out for himself because he was always caring for others.

At the end of the episode Jason saw a woman who looked like Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) in the airport. It still has not been revealed whether Thiebaud is reprising her role or will be a new character. Either way Jason might find love again.

What does the future hold?

Mattsson said she never expected to remain on General Hospital this long, and she is grateful for the opportunity. Sasha's exit from Port Charles was kept under wraps. Some fans assumed the actress was pregnant off-screen and going on maternity leave.

It would have been nice if Sasha could have given a proper goodbye to Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), and Cody. Perhaps she said farewell to them off-screen.
