Priest Book Review

Steamy

If you like super steamy books, this is the one for you. This is the steamiest books I've read in a while, but it was still an amazing read!

Priest is about a priest who has a vow to follow and breaks that vow (this is not a spoiler, I promise, it states this in the synopsis). The book follows his inner and outer struggle with what he wants, and what he believes he should do because of being a priest. It explores his journey with God, but also his relationship with Poppy.

My favorite character has to be Millie, one of the older characters in the novel who works with Tyler (the priest) at the church. Because of her age in the book, she tells it like it is and doesn't hold anything back. She also an important character to Tyler, being another mother figure to him besides his own mother.

This story definitely kept me on my toes, causing me to pick the book up and not put it down until I was completely finished with it. I was constantly wondering what route Tyler would go with his thoughts, what choices he'd make and how he'd feel about himself after that.

If I had to choose my favorite part, or scene, it would have to be the altar scene. It was one of the most real scenes in the novel to me, and that says a lot considering a lot of the scenes were real and raw. Emotional. Going along with that, I'd have to say the sex scenes were the best scenes of the novel because no matter how many there were each one held a different meaning/emotion. Usually when I read these type of scenes in books they are usually written the same, but these ones stood out to me... in a book about a priest, that showcases how well written this book was.

If I had to have any issue with Priest, I have to say I would have liked a little more romance. I don't mind a book being steamy, as long as there is romance invovled as well. I understood how they developed their feelings, but would've liked them to show their feelings in more ways than one. Another thing, I think this novel would've been a great read had it been from both characters points of view and not just Tyler's. I normally can't finish a novel with only one persons point of view, so it says a lot about the book that even with only Tyler's point of view I still finished the novel and enjoyed his story.

I would not recommend this book to anyone under the age of 18, definitely for more mature readers. If you like steamy, erotic romance novels, that is who I would recommend Priest to. If I had to compare this book to any other novel, I'd have to say this is could be an amazing read for anyone who enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey. It is not to the level Fifty Shades was, but that's what I would compare it to. The only differences are the fact that the man in Priest isn't wealthy like Christian Grey is and he isn't worried about being dominant like Christian is. There is also the major difference, Tyler Bell is a priest while Christian Grey was not and I believe that alone makes this novel steamier than Fifty Shades.

This was included in the #booktokchallenge reads and I have to say it did not disappoint and I think any mature reader would devour this book in one sitting like I did. If you've read this novel already, please comment your own thoughts (even if you had a more negative view on the book)!
