We started our march, as the cave was located south of the village. Our home was conveniently located at the southern tip of the town. It’ll take us about three days if we take our time. Half if we decided to rush. We’re shooting for 2 1/2 days to get some rest before reaching the Sapphire Cave. We started at a small pace. Then once we couldn’t see the village, we got to a slight jog. I could tell that we were all holding back the urge to sprint. We all knew, though, without saying a word. That exerting your energy needless outside the village wouldn’t be very smart. We could run into any number of encounters from now on.
After a few hours of light jogging, we camped by a small pond. There were also a few decent-sized trees nearby, even though we saw a few dino vultures stalking us. (Bird-sized raptors with wings that are covered in fur). They run fast on land, but when they’re circling high In the sky, they usually search for prey or run from more giant predators. The trick is to fake sleep and catch them when they get close. You can free them, eat them or kill them after that. I usually eat them or let them go. Once they get frightened, they never come back.
We set up a decent size hut-like tent. With the three of us, materials we brought, and a few lucky finds in the area, we can set up a comfortable camp anywhere as long as we aren’t attacked or facing harsh weather conditions—no need to set up a fire yet. We’ll be eating dried jerky, fruits, nuts, and bread. A simple meal that will fill us up and give us energy. We didn’t want to eat heavy meats and meals that could bog us down.
30 mins after eating, we decided to pack up and continue our journey. Everything has been good so far, except the Dino vultures. They’re still stalking us. Then without warning, Bulls Eye pulled out his bow and arrows. He yelled, “Mark”! Then with two fingers, he pointed at one of the Dinos. A red beam shot out of Bulls Eye’s fingers, hitting the Dino vulture, and it started glowing green. He tapped his arrow, then yelled at Mark again. The indicator also illuminated green. He put the ammo in the bow quickly and shot it at the unmarked Dino vulture! It was a clean hit, right through the middle, with the arrow traveling above it. He then yelled, “Match”! The arrow shot down, and through the other shocked Dino, that was just floating in surprise! The arrow went clean through it. Without losing velocity, the arrow crashed into the ground and broke into pieces.
We went to investigate the fallen Dino vultures and saw something shocking! There were harnesses, straps, and saddles connected to the vultures. The most surprising part was that in both vultures, tiny bodies looked like humanoid bugs. They were wearing Cyclops-like clothing with weapons as well! John said, “I’ve heard of a race of insect-size people. Everyone said they were extinct !“
John continued to talk. “Anyways, that was a terrifying way to use your ability, Bulls Eye! You can hone in on enemies that you hit with your laser beam. I can’t help but notice that you still must shout your ability out loud”. When people are still in the beginning stage of their powers, they still have to shout out a command to activate them. The words or orders come to us as naturally as our extraordinary powers for those of us that manifest them. John and I are at the point where we can think of the command to activate them. None of this matters that much, as there are plenty of influential people in our history who always had to say their powers out loud. Plus, at this point, when we fight, Bulls Eye beats me eight times out of 10, with my two wins coming at his cockiness.
