Ninja Kamui: Did It Live Up to the Expectations?
A Spoil-Free Ninja Kamui Review

I was beyond excited when I saw the trailer for Ninja Kamui. It looked action-packed and some of the craziest animation I had seen. However, it let me down big time. Let’s talk about it.
Have you seen Ninja Kamui? What were your thoughts?

Ninja Kamui
Storyline: Former ninja Joe Higan is ambushed by assassins who seek bloody revenge on him and his family for their betrayal, after escaping his clan and fleeing into rural America.
Info: 13 episodes
Genre: Action, Crime, Dark Drama
Rated: TV-MA

I am going to break up this review into two sections. Let’s start by talking about the first 4 episodes. WOW! They dropped the first 3 episodes and I was obsessed. It was all I could talk about and I was blown away. The story caught my attention right away, and there were already twists in just the first few episodes.
I could write a whole review on the animated fight scenes in the first few episodes. I have never seen any anime fight so intense, well-coordinated, and realistic.
I was hyped to keep watching as the episodes dropped weekly. Confident this would be the anime of the year and one of my new personal favorites.

The story started to slow down and change. We went from an intense revenge story to fighting a secret organization of Ninjas who run the largest technology company. The intensity of his revenge and grief seemed to fade into the background as he started to fight ninjas in these high-tech suits.
What could be cooler than a ninja in a high-tech suit? I feel like that’s what the writers said when creating this story. Visually, it looked cool, but these individuals had trained for countless hours to be the best of the best, and the suit’s power covered up their talent.
Did they spend their whole budget on the first few episodes? The fight scenes were cool as they went on but nothing like the bar that was set in the first few episodes. They gave us one of the coolest point-of-view fight scenes in the second to last episode, however, the quality still didn’t compare to the first few episodes.
They spent so much time building up the story, the main villain, and the reason the Higan (The main character) Needed to take down the organization. All to be built up to a short fight scene. I remember thinking “Was that it?” It was a cool fight scene but all this build up and that’s how quickly it ended.

Ratings:
My Review: This could have easily been the anime of the year if they had kept up the intensity and quality. But it felt like the show got less emotional, and the quality went down. It is only 13 episodes, and it is worth watching. I was just disappointed by the second half of the show. It does have a unique story and shows what the world would look like in the wrong hands. I just wish they had kept up with the quality.

The Wonderful World of Studio Ghibli
All the movies in chronological order pt. 1
As many people did, I started my Studio Ghibli addiction with the famous spirited away. After watching that masterpiece I was HOOKED! I had to hunt down and watch every movie they created. The creator of most of the films Hayao Miyazaki brought a breathtaking world to our TVs. Every story is unique, and when you rewatch them another meaning comes to light. Character development is in each movie, with strong female leads. Heart-stopping art will make you want to be teleported into the wonderful world of Studio Ghibli.
Bye for now!!
