Major MCU Group Won’t Return in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars — Rumor

A new Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars rumor suggests that one major MCU group won’t be appearing in either film.

Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars — The Next Big MCU Events

Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo—better known as the Russo Brothers—the massive superhero film is currently slated for release in December 2026. The highly anticipated sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is expected to follow a year later in December 2027.

Both projects mark the climax of Marvel’s Phase 6 and are being

positioned as the next defining moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much like Infinity War and Endgame were for the Infinity Saga. But a new report suggests that fans shouldn’t expect to see every Marvel hero on screen when these epics land.

Are the Eternals Sitting Out?

The scoop comes from Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, who was asked whether the Eternals would be appearing in Secret Wars.

“No Eternals in Avengers: Secret Wars, as far as I know,” Perez responded.

This claim hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, but it does align with the way Marvel has treated the Eternals franchise since its debut.

Kevin Feige’s Comments on Eternals’ Future

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has previously stated that while he’s proud of the Eternals movie and the risks it took, there are currently no plans for Eternals 2. That lack of a greenlight has left the future of the group uncertain.

If Perez’s scoop is accurate, Marvel might be quietly sidelining the Eternals from its biggest upcoming crossover films, focusing instead on more established MCU heroes and franchises to carry the weight of Phase 6.

No Cast Announcements — Even for Teased Characters

Another telling detail: none of the Eternals cast has been announced for Avengers: Doomsday so far. This includes not just the main team members but even the side characters Marvel teased for future projects.

Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman, who was introduced as the Black Knight, hasn’t been confirmed. Harry Styles’ Eros (Starfox), who appeared in the post-credits of Eternals, is also absent. Even Mahershala Ali’s Blade—whose voice cameo teased a future team-up—remains off the official cast list for either Doomsday or Secret Wars.

This suggests that Marvel may be pressing pause on following up those narrative threads, at least until after Phase 6.

A Look Back at the Eternals

Directed by Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao, Eternals introduced a wide cast of new heroes into the MCU. The lineup included:

  1. Gemma Chan as Sersi
  2. Richard Madden as Ikaris
  3. Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo
  4. Lia McHugh as Sprite
  5. Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos
  6. Lauren Ridloff as Makkari
  7. Barry Keoghan as Druig
  8. Don Lee as Gilgamesh
  9. Salma Hayek as Ajak
  10. Angelina Jolie as Thena

Despite the star-studded cast and sweeping mythology, Eternals divided critics and audiences upon release. While some praised its ambition and scope, others found it tonally inconsistent compared to Marvel’s other offerings.

Where You Can Watch Eternals

For those who want to revisit the film or catch it for the first time, Eternals is currently streaming on Disney+. That makes it easy for fans to speculate how (or if) the characters could eventually return to the MCU.

What’s Next for the MCU Timeline?

Regardless of the Eternals’ absence, Marvel Studios has a packed slate for Phase 6. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars will follow on December 17, 2027.

Before either of those massive crossover films, fans will also see Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is set for release on July 31, 2026. This Spider-Man entry may help set the stage for the multiversal chaos expected to unfold in Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Final Thoughts

If the rumor is true, the decision to sideline the Eternals could reflect Marvel’s desire to simplify its storytelling heading into the climax of the Multiverse Saga. With dozens of characters already in play, streamlining the lineup may be the studio’s way of keeping the narrative manageable while still delivering the high-stakes spectacle fans expect.

That said, Marvel has surprised fans before, and a late-stage cameo isn’t out of the question. Until official word comes from the studio, the fate of the Eternals remains a mystery.
