Losing your faith in good television? Let Mr. Robot fill the void that's been gaping since Breaking Bad ended.
Heisenberg, meet Mr. Robot

Hello, Friend.
I didn’t see you come in. Are you here for help? Help from who? Me or Him?
Oh, you’re here for television recommendations? For a show like Breaking Bad? And Mr. Robot is who you’re interested in finding out more about?
No, I can’t help you. Mr. Robot must be stopped. If he allows Amazon Prime to continue to stream my story, soon everyone will know about me. I don’t want people to know. I don’t like people to know. I don’t like people. Except for you. You seem nice. Understanding. Or maybe you’re just pretending to understand. Mr. Robot does that too.
In his mind this is the perfect story. Sure, he compares it to shows like Breaking Bad. He says they’re similar because the writing, the story and the characters are all perfectly designed and executed. He talks about how the show’s creator had a single streamlined vision of the story he wanted to tell. He says we are the hackers equivalent to Breaking Bad’s drug lords. Kinda sounds great, when he talks about it.
But, honestly, how can he expect anyone to trust the TV networks these days? With few exceptions, they are all the same now. They lure you in with outrageous characters, interesting concepts, big names. And for what? They inevitably fizzle out and run out of ideas, don’t they? After explosive let downs like Game of Thrones, why wouldn’t you fear being let down by the end of every series that comes next? You can’t help but be sceptical about beginning a new show in times like these. With show-runners making millions off of cheap thrills and cop out endings. It seems like it’s all just a hoax.
What if my story ends up like most of those other TV shows? You know … the ones that go on so long that they inevitably fall apart. Not every show can be as satisfying as Breaking Bad. So, of course you’re going to expect that the people in my story will inevitably make the same out of character choices that you’re getting used to? All the networks care about are dollar signs, right? More seasons equal more money. Why would my story be any different?
Alright, that’s enough! Go take a nap, Elliot.
Elliot means well, but I’m the one, not him, that you want to take advice from if you’re looking for the next perfect show to watch. After all, Mr. Robot isn’t just HIS story. It’s OUR story. First off, yes, Mr. Robot is the ideal next watch if you’re tired of being let down by shows that drag on and on; the ones that get so convoluted that you can’t even remember what drew you to it in the first place. It’s true, if you liked that definitive and clear-cut type of storytelling you saw in Breaking Bad, then Mr. Robot is the next show you need to watch.
And you want to know why? It’s because, both of these shows, from the very beginning, have an ending already planned out. A set ending. And, on top of that, the show is going to stop at that ending. No more story lines added on, no characters doing uncharacteristic things to create unnecessary drama, no dragged out seasons with filler to put more money in the executives’ pockets. No, just one perfect ending.
And before anyone starts on me about Better Call Saul and El Camino ... remember, those were follow ups. I'm strictly talking the series of Breaking Bad. That's it.
Breaking Bad is the story of Walter White’s devolution from high school chemistry teacher into the infamous drug lord known as Heisenberg. It takes you into the drug wars in New Mexico, the complexities of family drama, and it follows a man that has been forced into a corner when he is diagnosed with lung cancer. And what does this man do about it? Well, he doesn’t just take it sitting down. He stands up and does what needs to be done in order to provide a better life for his family. Agree or disagree with his tactics, you can’t help but root for him. Well, at least at first; if you’ve seen the entirety of the show … well, I’m not going to spoil it for you.

All of the performances are so strong that you can’t help but become invested in each of the characters. The character of Jesse Pinkman, portrayed by Aaron Paul, was so loved by fans that his role went from what could have been a minor player into the show's second lead.
The direction and design in both of these shows are top notch. I can count at least a dozen elements from Breaking Bad that have become iconic in today's pop culture. The RV and the yellow hazmat suits are examples of this. And as for Mr. Robot, well, the fact that a full hour episode with only two short lines of dialogue can keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time says a lot about the talent of the writers. They know how to pump you with adrenaline; because, man, I have never felt more alive.

………………..Was that him? Did he try to convince you to watch my show? Did you understand him? He tends to ramble. He can be pretty convincing, I know. Sometimes I feel like we should all just give in and do what he says. Why not? Why not go against the norms or everyday society? Why not root for the guy doing the wrong thing in order to do the right thing? In fact, why not, all of us, demand a better television experience with the types of characters that makes us question our own moral compasses? Why not hold the shows we watch up to the high standard that the writing in Breaking Bad set?
Why not encourage you to watch my story, and encourage you to see my own “Walter White” transformation from an morphine addicted, anxiety-ridden cybertech vigilante into the man who …
No. What am I doing? I’m inviting you in. You’re nice, but I can’t handle any more attention. No, I have to lose your interest somehow …
That’s it!
I know what to do. I’ll tell you the truth. All of it! I’ll give you spoilers. All of them! Spoilers so big no one, not even you, will want to watch it anymore. You won’t need to. You can all go back to your everyday lives, drinking mocha soy bean cappuccinos, watching Marvel movies, or any of those other TV shows that Decider.com suggests for you. They're good at that! Listen to them. Not me. Certainly not Him.
I’m happy with this plan.
Okay, the truth is …
STOP!
No. I need to do this.
If you tell them everything, nobody is going to watch.
Don’t worry. You won’t have to watch. That’s the point of my telling you everything. You can just watch Breaking Bad again.
Don’t talk to them, talk to me!
Just ignore him. He’s trying to ruin the plan.
Sorry, Kiddo. I’m not going to let you do it. They’re going to have to watch it themselves.
Okay, I have to make this quick, I guess.
So, tell me; what did you really like about Breaking Bad? It was a show that had everything you could possibly want. Drama, action, suspense, comedy and intelligence.
Bryan Cranston was truly superb as Walter White. You cared about this man. You rooted for him. Not only that, but you also fell in and out of love with him and the characters in his life. Okay, some of them you absolutely hated, but regardless of that, the show made you genuinely care about what happened to these people. The good and the bad. And that is why the ending was perfect. Because, while it wasn’t wrapped up in a neat little bow, it had an ending that made sense for the characters you grew to know. Their fates, and not all of them were pleasant … my gawd, some of them were horrifically unpleasant … but they made sense. You could understand how they got there, and that made all the difference.

So, if you liked Breaking Bad, then you have got to watch Mr. Robot.
Why? Why is it so important to you that they watch my show? Why do you insist on letting people know how good it is?
As I already said, Elliot, it’s not just your show. It’s our show. And it’s not just good. It’s fantastic!

Mr. Robot is the story of Elliot, yes, he’s our protagonist here. He’s a shy engineer for a cyber security company by day, and a drug addicted, vigilante hacker by night. His goal: to protect the people he cares about from all the “fakes” out there. His life is pretty straight forward.
Until he meets me.
That’s where the trouble begins …
“I’m Mr. Robot. I’m the leader of an underground group of hackers known as “FSociety” and we intend to bring this world to its knees and start a revolution. We’re going to take down the giants of industry whose corrupt leadership earn them billions, while everyone else struggles to make it. Hell, it’s these types of monsters that created the scenarios where the Walter Whites of the world need to get a little dirty just to stay afloat. They need to be stopped. And FSociety is going to do just that.

We’ll take you on a wild ride as we bring power to the people and change the world. And if hacking isn’t familiar to you, don’t worry; we’re not going to dumb it down by any means, but you will follow along, no problem. You can trust me.
Trust me, and take this is a fast paced, emotionally charged, high tech roller coaster of a show that comes from the brilliant mind of Sam Esmail. Starring Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday and Carly Chaikin, this is one wild ride that you don’t want to miss out on.

So, listen to me, and give Mr. Robot a try. It’s currently streaming on Amazon Prime, and I can assure you …
Did he convince you? I hope not. I think it’s better if we all just go back to how things were before Mr. Robot came along and destroyed …
No spoilers!
But I have to try …
BANG
Just watch the trailer. You’ll see.
You’re welcome, in advance.
Goodbye, Friend.
