Linsey Godfrey as Caroline Spencer and Sarah Horton

From 2012 to 2018, Godfrey portrayed Caroline Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful. She was married to Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and became pregnant by his son Thomas Forrester who is now portrayed by Matthew Atkinson. Caroline gace birth to their son Douglas and later moved to New York. Thomas followed his family but later returned to LA with the news that Caroline had died (off-screen) of a brain aneurysm so there is no chance of that character being resurrected.

Beginning in 2018, Godfrey took on the character Sarah Horton on Days of Our Lives. Sarah was conceived invitro and her parents are Neil Curtis and Maggie Horton. Linsey's Sarah returned to Salem as a doctor and engaged to Rex Brady She later became involved with Xander Kiriakis but just before their wedding she injected with a syrince and kidnapped by Kristten DiMera (Stacy Haiduck). Sarah was placed in a crate and shipped off to DiMera Island.

Godfrey left the role in March 2021 and is scheduled to return on January 17, 2022. Sarah has been MIA all of this time and only now are the residents of Salem suspecting foul play and beginning to investigate. The rumor mill suggests that she will be located safe and unharmed and fans are eagerly awaiting Godfrey reprising the character and returning to Days of Our Lives.

Prior to B&B and DOOL the actress had roles booked on Surface and One Tree Hill but she says a diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma set her career back about two years. She has continued to battle through struggles that she shared in August 2021 with Maurice Benard on his Podcast State of Mind.

Godfrey opens up about her nervous breakdown

During a segment of Benard's vlog, Linsey said “I was really self-medicating” with alcohol. So “kind of the best thing that could have ever happened to me was having a nervous breakdown at the end of 2019 and finally being like, ‘I cannot control my emotions… I don’t feel like myself.’You can read the details by clicking on the above link.

The actress said she no longer knew who she was and began having anxiety attacks. She started hurting her and drinking and went through a very dark period. She said she took steps so that she could be in control and as of the interview she had gone a year and a half without drinking. By this time she will have been close to two years sober and that indeed is a milestone.

Godfrey said that she now enjoys being the person who can remember what she did the previous night. She added that she stopped self medicating with alcohol and gave her body time to allow her perscription meds to do what they were intended to do. Best of luck to Linsey as she moves forward by taking charge of her life.
