Kathleen Gati returns to General Hospital as Obrecht, but will Kelly Thiebaud come back as Britt?
Will Obrecht reunite with her daughter or meet her doppelganger?

Obrecht is back in Port Charles
When General Hospital viewers learned that Kelly Thiebaud. (Britt Westbourne), was returning to the soap, they began to wonder if Kathleen Gati (Liesl Obrecht) and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) would also make another appearance in Port Charles. Thiebaud is set to arrive later in July, and it has been confirmed that Gati will reprise her role, although no specific air date has been provided.
Gati joined the ABC soap in 2012 for a brief stint, but due to the character's popularity, she became a regular cast member. However, she was let go in December 2023, leading to disappointment from her fans, who have not stopped expressing their desire for her return to the show.
There has been no news about Shriner, who has been part of the General Hospital cast (on and off) since 1977. Obrecht and Scott were a beloved couple, and viewers were stunned when the couple broke up and both actors were let go.
Kathleen Gati moved to the East Coast
When fans asked Gati about a possible return, she stated that she did not know if or when she would be called back, emphasizing that the decision was beyond her control. She later announced that she and her husband, Michael Browers, were moving to the East Coast. It remains unclear whether Obrecht will only be involved fn a short storyline arc, or if she will stay in Port Charles for an extended period.
Some General Hospital viewers believe Obrecht's return suggests that Thiebaud will also reprise her role as Britt, but this is not necessarily certain. All the speculation surrounding Britt could simply be a smokescreen for a new character arriving in Port Charles.
Will there be a mother and child reunion?
Gati has said she chose acting as her career “to entertain people through stories and characters.” The soap vet who also appeared on All My Children and one episode of The Young and the Restless, recently shared that fans had continued to inquire about her return. She seems excited to finally be able to share the good news and show her appreciation.
“The fans have been faithful, loyal, begging me to return, continuously asking when, oh when will I return,” Gati said. “I am truly grateful and so happy that I can bring some story and entertainment back to them again through Obrecht!”
Kelly has not revealed whether she will portray Dr. Westbourne or a different character. Recently, Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) sent Liesl an email, expressing shock at discovering that Britt had stolen Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu Falconeri’s (Alexa Havens Bruening) embryo and had it implanted in her own body.
Will Rocco meet his birth mom?
Confused about the situation, Rocco feels a connection to the woman who carried him for nine months and is seeking answers from Liesl. Will Obrecht return to Port Charles to support Finn and reunite with her allegedly deceased daughter?
If Dr. Westbourne is indeed alive, what will her backstory be regarding how she survived? Liesl mourned the loss of her daughter for quite some time, but could she have found a way to revive her? If not, then who would have been invested in Britt's life?
Obrecht's son, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), was shot and killed by Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), and Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), whom she loved as a son, died after being shot by Peter August (Wes Ramsey). This is why many General Hospital fans were angry that Britt also died. Be on the lookout for updates related to Kathleen Gati's return and whether or not Kelly Thiebaud portrays Britt again, and Rocco meets his birth mom.
