John McCook returns to 'The Young and the Restless'

The characters on the two remaining CBS daytime drama shows have been doing crossovers for decades. This year there have been 2 thus far and a third is scheduled for June 14, 15, and 16. A few months back Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman(Hunter King) from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS visited THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. Shortly after, Dollar Bill Spencer, (Don Diamont) left B&B to chat with Summer and Kyle on Y&R.

Now there will be an episode where John McCook (Eric Forrester, (B&B) will visit his old stomping grounds so to speak and talk to Sally Spectra(Courtney Hope). Longtime soap viewers will recall that McCook joined THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Lance Prentiss in 1976. The role was later taken over by Dennis Cole and McCook became a legacy character on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL when it premiered in 1987. Eric Forrester has crossed over to Genoa City in the past but this time it will onyl be symbolic with McCook on the Y&R set.

There is no news on what Eric and Sally will discuss but those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS know that Ms. Spectra is up to no good. She lost her leverage over Kyle and Summer once the truth came out that Kyle is the father of Harrison Locke. Sally is angry that she blew her chance with Jack Abbott and is seeking revenge. Some Y&R viewers thought perhaps she might set her sights on Ashton Locke but it looks like Victoria Newman has caught his eye.

In the crossover Eric Forrester does not actually visit Genoa City, but will meet with Sally Spectra who shows up in LA. The scenes were shot on the set of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS on a balcony with the setup being improvised to resemble an outdoor patio at Forrester Creations. In response to the news McCook stated: “That meant sharing scenes with Courtney, who used to be on B&B for years, so it wasn’t like I was working with someone new or who identified as Y&R. Courtney is a sweet, wonderful girl, who’s very conscientious and I really enjoyed working with her again.”

Eric Forrester thought highly of Sally's aunt who had the same name and was portrayed by the late Darlene Connely. Sally stole designs from Forrester Creations and passed them off as her own. Ms. Spectra also pretended to be dying in the hope of getting Eric's stepson Wyatt Fuller to come back to her. Last week Sally told her aunt via video chat that she had a plan but whatever it is has not been revealed and Y&R viewers have yet to figure it out. Sally does not have one friend in Genoa City and is fast burning bridges with the Abbotts.

She spends all of her time plotting against Kyle and Summer and so far they have remained solid. Some vierws think Sally will partner with Tara Locke and get her to use her son to breakup Skyle. Whatever Sally is up to, if she continues her self destructive behavior she could risk losing her job with Lauren Fenmore and then she will have nothing left.
