How To Turn Yourself Into A Butterfly
We have the technology, allegedly
In fact, with some of the new scientific technology we have in its infancy, in time you could theoretically turn yourself into anything you please, never get old, never get ill and live forever, almost.
As a matter of course, I have to take this opportunity to point out that some claims, such as turning a human being into a butterfly (Elon Musk in an interview with Axel Springer on youtube) are, for the moment at least, very far from realisation and in all likelihood will never come to pass except in works of fiction. That being said.....
There are three fields of scientific endeavour that intrigue me somewhat to say the least. Stem Cell, Neuralink and mRNA Sciences. Here is an over- view of the benefits each has to offer.
Stem Cell Therapy
With stem cell therapy regenerative cells are harvested from the patients own body. For this reason there is a minimal risk of being infected by transmittable diseases, minimal risk of rejection and a very much reduced recovery period. Stem cell therapy is a non-invasive procedure to cure an illness or repair damage arising from normal human wear and tear, accidental injury or disease.
I have to point out that this type of therapy is actually already available and is in the process of transforming the treatment of an incredibly wide variety of medical conditions, such as reducing joint pain, improving mobility and flexibility of movement, and for treating tendon and ligament damage.
Neuralink
Neuralink is a privately funded initiative which is exploring the possibilities arising from hard wiring a computer to the brain. On the plus side is the potential to cure blindness, alzhiemers, dementia and spinal cord injuries. And who knows, if there can be an interface which connects the human brain, the very epicentre of our being, with the epicentre of a computer programme, the possibilities are mind blowing. Imaging being able to be programmed with all manner of learning, languages, the sciences, art.........
However, there are some concerns being expressed about the misuse of such technology in carrying out thought control and memory recording. This technology is thankfully some time away from being applied to human beings, which should give plenty of time for the development of some sort of industry and governmental control policy.
mRNA
And so we come to the third in our triumvirate of new technologies which are paving the way to a bright new future for all of us. mRNA is a technology which has been in development for over a decade. However, mRNA is only now being released onto the market due to the pressing need for a vaccine for the Corona Virus.
In fact, mRNA showed very early signs of being an ideal vehicle for the treatment of virus's such as Covid 19. During trials it has shown itself to be highly effective and very well tolerated amongst those who took part in the trials which were carried out earlier this year. In other words, nothing to worry about.
There has been a certain amount of speculation regarding the possibilities of mRNA being used for other purposes which involve genetically modifying human tissue and neurological systems, though it is far too early to say with any degree of certainty what the future holds. There has been talk of curing cancer and reversing the ageing process, which would be truly amazing.
Suffice it to say, should anything like that ever come to pass, that it is something which will need to be handled with a great deal of forethought and extreme care.
All that being said, I think a fair bit of fictional artistic licence ought to be tolerated, like turning a man into a butterfly, as long as it does not sew seeds of serious doubt about the efficacy or the intended actual use of such medical treatments.
