Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot, but the Grinch, who lived just north of Whoville - did not. The Grinch hated Christmas - the whole Christmas season. Now, please don't ask why; no one quite knows the reason

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Loyal fans for 55 years

The animated holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas is based on the book of the same name by Dr. Suess. This cartoon has been entertaining fans since 1966 and is eagerly awaited each year. There have been several movies made but for baby boomers, nothing can compare with the original cartoon that they grew up watching.

The Grinch airs multiple times each holiday season and in 2021 it began on Peacock streaming service on January 1. The animated classic also aired on November 6 on TBS, November 14 on TNT, on TBS on November 20 and NBC on November 26..If you don't have Peacock and you missed these first airings of this Christmas staple don't worry. How the Grinch Stole Christmas will be shown again a number of times between now and the end of the year.

When the Whos, young and old, will sit down to a feast. And they'll feast, and they'll feast. And they'll feast, feast, feast, feast! They'll feast on Who pudding and rare Who roast beast. Aw, roast beast is a feast I can't stand in the least!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The magic of network TV

There is something special and magical about the anticipation of waiting for the Grinch to air that is lost when it has been taped, is on a streaming service or CD or DVD. Many baby boomers who grew up watching this delightful tale will quote along with the Grinch (Boris Karloff) and Cindy Lou Who, June Foray). My husband used to ask if I had to recite the entire 30 minute cartoon every year and my answer was "Yes". He would shake his head and laugh.

If you have read the book you will realize that much of the dialog on the television cartoon has been added and is not in the pages of the book. There will be at least 3 additional airings of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and they will be on 12/11/21 – 8:00 pm on TBS, 12/11/21 – 8:30pm on TBS and Christmas Day at 8:00 pm on NBC.

Whatever the reason, his heart or his shoes, he stood there on Christmas Eve, hating the Whos. Staring down from his cave with a sour, grinchy frown, at the warm, lighted windows below in their town.

The Who Song

People differ on the lyrics to the Who's Christmas song. Here is one popular version of what they are supposed to be singing.

Fah who foraze! Dah who doraze!

Welcome Christmas, come this way!

Fah who foraze! Dah who doraze!

Welcome Christmas, Christmas Day!

Welcome, Christmas! Fah who rahmus!

Welcome, Christmas! Dah who dahmus!

Christmas Day will always be!

Just as long as we have we!

Merry Christmas to all the big kids and Who's far and near who love the 1966 animated special How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have we. Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart, and hand in hand.

There has been a lot of controversy about Dr. Seus in recent years and some of his books have been pulled from circulation. The animated holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas stands alone and will continue to warm the hearts of those who love it.

Down in Whoville they say the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day.
