General Hospital fans have questions about Erika Zlezak, Tristan Rogers and Leslie Charleson
Viewers eagerly await details about what happens next in Port Charles.

General Hospital fans seek answers
Leslie Charleson, who portrayed Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital, passed away in January of this year. Her death has not been addressed on-screen, and fans have been waiting for answers on how this situation will be handled.
Various characters continue to say Monica is ruling the roost from her bedroom in the Quartermaine mansion and she is pretty angry with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) who is causing trouble all over Port Charles.
As viewers wait for her death to be announced, the beloved Tristan Rogers, who played Robert Scorpio, passed away on August 15. His death from lung cancer, even though he was not a smoker has stunned the fans who loved him. The ABC soap will now have two characters to memorialize, and some viewers say it's past time Monica's fate is dealt with.
Many who enjoy GH had hoped Patti McCormick who was a recast for a few episodes might take on the role on a regular basis because Dr. Quartermaine is needed in her household. Now it seems her demise may be connected to a soap vet who is scheduled to become a part of Port Charles life. Of course it could be the delay is to give viewers time to accept a new Monica who will one day emerge from her room.

How does Erika Slezak fit into the narrative?
In June 2025, it was announced that Erika Slezak (best known for her iconic role as Victoria "Viki" Lord on One Life to Live) had signed a short‑term contract to appear on General Hospital later this year. Initially, some GH viewers assumed she might be a recast for Charleson's character but this is not the case.
Both Slezak and General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini confirmed she will join the cast, and the EP expressed his excitement, but no details were revealed about the character or the storyline.
In July 2025, Slezaks official fan club and website confirmed she will be portraying a brand-new character, rather than reprising her OLTL alter ego, Viki Lord. Slezak will begin taping in September for a role set to air in the fall.
This suggests that it could be the end of the year or the beginning of the next before there is any closure for Dr. Quartermaine. Some fan reports and outlets have speculated that Slezak might appear as Monica's long‑lost sister, considering recent storylines hinting at ties to the Quartermaine family.

Martin Grey might be involved
Martin Grey (Michael E Knight) seemed stunned by a letter he received a few months back, and some fans thought it might be from Monica's sister. Others suggested she might be one of Martin's former wives who are bleeding him dry through alimony payments.
Slezak's character, her relationship to Monica, and how the beloved Doctor will meet her demise are all being kept secret. Fans are also curious if Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) will inherit the family home that her brother Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) gave to Monica.
So many questions with no answers but perhaps now that Tristan Rogers has passed away, there may be some updates for eager viewers. Here is what has been confirmed as of this writing.

Will Monica die or be replaced?
Erika Slezak will appear on General Hospital in a new, original role—taping started in September 2025, set to air in the fall. What is unknown is the character's name, backstory, and how she ties into Port Charles' life.
Robert was bigger than life in Port Charles and although he had not been on screen in recent months his memorial should be a testiment to the character and the man who portrayed him for 45 years.
Considering his time on The Young and the Restless as Colin Atkinson, he has been in the lives of mant soap fans longer than he has not. Be watchingh for General Hospital ipdates related to what will happen to Monica, Robert and Erika Slezak's character.
