Darksaber origins
Gideon's connection to it

Moff Gideon is the latest weilder of the reknown lightsaber known as the Darksaber.
Tale: None of this is CANON but pulls from LEGENDS
The Darksaber hailed from the first Mandalorian ever inducted into the Jedi Order (Canon).

This Jedi was named Tarre Vizsla, and once learning of the history of his people, he vowed to save them.
This Jedi would locate Kyber in the Beskar deposits of Mandalore, and adorned the construction of his saber with Beskar iron and Mandalorian design.
He created the Darksaber to unite and empower them, becoming Mandalores leader and ceased his service within the Jedi Order.
Tarre Vizsla upon leading his people, waged war against the Republic for attempting to steal their sought after Beskar, every planet they controlled rallied with them, many of them containing beskar deposits to fuel this war effort. Tarre developed technology that would be necessary to combat the Jedi Order who would be subsequently defending the greedy Republic.

Vizsla would develop many more weapons including a superweapon that could protect Mandalore from a Jedi or Sith invasion.
Vizsla lost the war and his Darksaber fell into the property of his successors, the Jedi Order.

Tarre's ancestor, Shae Vizsla would become the first Mandalorian leader (named Mandalore the Avenger) to ally with the Sith. When having the best interest of her people. Once overthrowing the Republic, the Sith Order challenged Mandalores territory.

Shae Vizsla would find her ancestors Superweapon known as The Great Reaper, that she hoped could end the Jedi and the Sith. She would rebuild Mandalore's Army to new heights, never having to actually use the weapon.
When the Republic and the Jedi Order rose, they perceived Mandalore as an ally to the Sith Empire, as they violently conquered neighboring sectors in the galaxy, crossing Republic borders- prompting the Republic to initiate war with Mandalore.

Mandalore the Great, Mandalore's current leader and wielder of the Darksaber, lead the Mandalorian Crusaders and served the Sith.

The Jedi, Revan, lead Jedi Forces to challenge Mandalore the Great in what became known as the Mandalorian-Jedi War

When the Jedi surrounded Mandalore with Republic Forces, their was heavy forces on both sides, and the Republic bombardment from above prematurely initiated the Dark Reaper weapon, which catastrophically left Mandalore devoid of all life in what is known as the Great Cataclysm

Revan would defeat Mandalore the Great, his Darksaber would remain with the Mandalorians.
The surviving remnant of Mandalorians would surrender, rebuilding what they could of a New Mandalore devoting to peace much like the Jedi Order..

They would focus on Art, building statues of the Mandalorian leaders of past millenia, including Tarre Vizsla and using Beskar to rebuild their cities and defenses.
They would exile Clan Vizsla to Mandalore's moon, Concordia, and instill an agenda of peace and reconstruction to all within Mandalorian Territory of Space.
Clan Vizsla would conform to the peace treaties of Mandalore while in exile on Concordia, secretly building their armies in the ancient Beskar mining tunnels, building their army to topple New Mandalore.
Lord of the Mandalorians hailing from Vizsla heritage during the Clone Wars, would study the maker of the Darksaber, studying all of the great Mandalorian weaponry that they used to combat the Jedi Order.
Maul would uncover hidden away artifacts below Tarre Vizsla's statue, where he'd leave recordings.

Thousands of years after the Mandalorian Purge, the wielder of the Darksaber, Moff Gideon, uncovered a cave beneath the statue of Tarre Vizsla, where he uncovered truths about the force and about himself being a descendant of Mandalorians.....

Gideon would view all records within this cave, even by former weilder, Lord Maul.
