Chelsea fakes a breakdown and Adam goes free on 'The Young and the Restless'

Victor Newman has won again on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as if anyone doubted that he would. The "mustache" and his con artist daughter in law hatched a scheme that fooled the DA and the lead detective for the PCPD. Earlier spoilers suggested that Rey might question Chelsea's confession but she gave evidence that was no known to the public. On Tuesday's episode Detective Rosales arrived at the Newman Ranch, along with DA Michael Baldwin and Chelsea was in rare form.

She was going on and on about Adam being obsessed with Sharon and said the two had been intimate upstairs in her home. Chelsea then apologized to Rey and said she never meant to hurt him. She also stated that the amount of thallium she gave him would not have killed him. Chelsea described how she got into Sharon's house, went upstairs to the bathroom and put the poison in various possessions that belonged to Rey. When she mentioned his shaving cream, Rey and Michael gave each other knowing looks.

It turns out that this was a bit of information that was not made public and at this point the detective and DA decided to accept Chelsea's story as fact. Because of her ranting, raving and paranoia, Victor brought in a mental health professional who have Ms. Lawson a sedative to calm, her down. Michael and Rey agreed she needed mental health care so she was not arrested just as Victor had promised her earlier.

The doctor administered the drug via a needle and Chelsea seemed to fall asleep. Victor asks what this means for his son and Michael announces that Adam is a free man. After DA Baldwin and Dwtwctive Rosales leave, Chelsea opens her eyes, which indicates that the doctor did not inject her with drugs and was in cahoots with Victor. Spoilers have said that Chelsea will spend some time in Fairview and that on Thursday Kevin will come to Chloe's defense.

It's not known what the issue will be but it may possibly have to do with her role in Chelsea's crime. Although he has a confession, Rey might still be asking questions and trying to piece together exactly what happened. He might even believe Adam gave Victor details that he fed to Chelsea who confessed under duress. The Newman patriarch has no need of Chloe now that his plan has worked and his son has been cleared. For this reason, Rey might be attempting to make sure everything is on the up and up.

Chelsea really put on a performance and now Victor must stick to his word. Sharon will be elated because she believed in Adam all along and spoilers say she will make a decision regarding her marriage this week. Nick may even breathe a sigh of relief because he has softened in his anger at his brother. Rey will have to do a lot of soul searching and Chelsea's words will still be ringing in his ears. He might even confront his wife about the allegation that she slept with Adam at the penthouse and not consider he rambling of a crazy woman.

Many Y&R viewers believe Sharon and Rey will split and that she and Adam will bond over his saving her daughter's life. Spoilers indicate that Adam is going to have a stand alone episode soon where he dreams of a chess game with Sharon as his white night. Perhaps his fantasy will become a reality so stay tuned to find out.
