Okay…so again, as someone who has absolutely no interest in Batman but very much interest in everyone else in Gotham City we are binging our way through Caped Crusader, Prime Video’s newest animated series. So far we have been introduced to many of the major players in Gotham City including; Montoya, The Penguin, and Barbara Gordon. I am hoping that we are going to get some more of the Batfamily as this series goes on. This will be going over episodes 3 and 4. There will be 10 episodes in this first season and I really kind of already want another season.
We start off this next episode with Selina Kyle which makes me so excited. AND we get Dr. Quinnzel. So basically I'm squealing like a little girl. It’s about to get SUPER gay up in here. Because let’s be clear, nowhere in mainstream comics is fruitier than Gotham City.
And Selina’s costume is super vintage! I love how much this show feels like its original run of comics. Actually it's very silver age and it's excellent. Also Selina Kyle is the most badass of comic book names and she is THE femme fatale of this show.
This episode centers a little more on Bruce Wayne, we get flashbacks to right after his parents died. So they really flesh out that singular personality trait. It also looks like through his therapy with Quinzel that we might be getting Harley’s transition into being who we know and love.
The women calling Bruce out is possibly the best part of Batman existing. Harley straight up said that he dates a different girl every night, but he isn’t getting laid so what is he doing? Girl really said he had a skill issue. Barbara, Selina, Harley they really have no problem calling Bruce on his shit and I love it so much. Alfred’s sassy ass is also a great source of banter with Bruce.
Bruce Wayne you tiny, creepy motherfucker. Just a creepy ass kid standing in Alfred’s doorway saying “they’re all gonna pay”...Kid go to sleep.
My sweet baby girl Selina Kyle traveling with a panther is possibly the greatest (and hottest) thing ever.
The police are now on a crusade against the Batman so that’s fun. Montoya is put in charge of a task force to catch him and it's so very comic book-like. Very cat and mouse. We also get to see a lot more of Harvey Dent this episode so theoretically we will see two-face at some point over the course of this show as well. There are just so many great characters in Gotham City, as much as I would like to see them all I just don’t think we are going to get to it. Especially with the era that the show is set in, we might get a Robin but Nightwing and his other adopted children are probably a long shot.
I am kind of really hoping for a Gotham City Sirens episode since we have Harley, and it's really hard to have Harley without Ivy and we’ve got Selina Kyle. Gimme, gimme, gimme.
The fourth episode is really the first Batman centric episode, he’s really been sharing a lot of screentime with the other characters which, at least for me makes the show far more interesting.
The show is actually really good. It is very easy to watch and Batman fans, and Gotham City fans are going to be very happy with the show. All of your favorites make an appearance. Animation takes a long time so even if we do get news about a season 2 it will be a while. But Prime Video does seem to love their Batman content, there was Merry Little Batman last year so the likelihood is pretty high. Especially if the show is well received.
