Bridgerton Lover
A female point of view as if ‘I were back in 1813’
After watching Bridgerton, who hasn’t been taken in with the Love Story of Daphe and Simon?
As I look in the mirror I imagine what life would have been like if I were a young adult in high society in 1813, with my former 20 year old mindset.
The romanticism of falling in love with a handsome young man of wealth and stature, the beautiful dresses and glamorous ballrooms, to dance and float away in a lovers arms. What’s not to fall in love with?
In my 20’s I was always a dress and high heels kind of girl who wouldn’t stay home come Friday night, or any weekend for that matter, the last one on the dance floor in fear or missing out!
But how temptation and scandal would be oh so ‘rife and easy’ if nowadays you had to wait to consummate relations until after marriage.
One moment of being lost in each other’s eyes and the next you would soon be wed!
Take a look at your ex partners and think about the disaster that could bring, if our ‘every romantic urge’ consequence were to become a marriage certificate, we would certainly think about our actions more readily.
Although I’m sure a chaperone would have come in handy on occasion to get rid of the Nigel Berbrooke’s on the dance floor.
And the ballgowns look ethereal but not even the sparkling jewels framing your best cleavage could hold your gaze for long when your boobs are wedged up like toffee apples on a stick!
And the culinary delights are furthermore temptation to have you popping out of your corsets.
Remember the times you went out in your tightest dress, knowing you couldn’t sit down or eat too much, that must have been a daily occurrence.
No wonder we wear leggings and onesies, it’s our reincarnated self’s rejecting the old.
But the custome looks so gorgeous or should I say The Duke of Hastings in particular does indeed!
Did anyone else start falling in love with his character and then the boxing scene was just another ‘wow’ can it get any better? Any hotter? Well, it certainly does!
I would love to see modern day men in fitted blazers and trousers and riding boots. Will this look replace the trend of the hipster?
If any female has anything to do with it, darling ‘I’ve bought you a new jacket’ (Simon Basset style!)
My new fantasy is my beau riding up to meet me on his horse, dressed in Bridgerton attire and how about your next date night picked up in a horse and carriage riding out leisurely somewhere in the countryside.
I’m thankful of female equality, the choices we have, not having pressures of an arranged marriage or having to conform to society and have children.
What Bridgerton did fantastically well, was letting us live through the emotions of each character, the highs and lows of lust and love, hidden torment, trauma of infatuation and loss but most of all a love story with a happy ending of a ‘soul deep’ relationship’. Go Daphne, a strong, independent female, learning lessons in love from naivety, I can totally relate and was willing her on for following her hearts desire.
I can’t wait for Bridgerton 2.
