The story takes place at Joaquín Sorolla Hospital in Valencia, where doctors fight both medical emergencies and their own personal struggles.

A Chaotic Beginning

Season 1 starts with complete chaos in the hospital. Doctors are seen rushing to perform emergency surgeries when suddenly, an announcement of a strike interrupts the scene.

Then, the story goes two months back, showing what led to this moment.

Meet the New Doctor

We meet Biel de Felipe, a young and idealistic doctor starting his residency. His very first case brings him face-to-face with Patricia Segura, the President of Valencia, who is secretly battling breast cancer.

Dr. Nestor, the hospital’s oncologist, warns Biel about the political risks of this case.

Meanwhile, Quique, another doctor, is secretly struggling with drug addiction while treating his patients.

Three Generations, One Hospital Episodes 3 and 4 show the different types of doctors working at the hospital —

Biel, the idealist who wants to help everyone.

Nestor, the veteran with experience.

Dr. Lluis Blasco, the opportunist who only cares about power.

There’s also Dr. Pilar Amaro, a brilliant but strict surgeon. Her son, Oscar, is battling his own addiction behind her back.

Tragedy Strikes

When Oscar overdoses, Pilar is heartbroken and begins to investigate who supplied him the drugs. She later finds out it was her own close friend, Quique.

At the same time, Dr. Jesica is handling too many patients while trying to mentor her younger brother, Rodri. Unlike her, Rodri is more focused on gaining online attention than learning medicine.

A Costly Mistake

Jesica tells Rodri to treat a young girl with breathing problems. Instead of checking carefully, Rodri assumes she is just anxious. The girl’s condition worsens, and Jesica rushes to help — but she is called away for another emergency.

Since Pilar is banned from operating (because Oscar is still in surgery), Rodri decides to perform the surgery himself — without permission. Sadly, the young girl dies, and Rodri is left filled with guilt and regret.

Her mother confronts him, saying she’ll never forgive him.

The Final Tragedy

Overcome by guilt, Rodri jumps from the hospital roof. He survives for a short time in a coma but later dies, breaking Jesica’s heart and shocking the entire hospital.

A Hospital United in Grief

Rodri’s death becomes the final spark that pushes the hospital staff to act. Doctors and nurses realize that overwork, poor staffing, and bad management caused the tragedy. They are being treated as replaceable, not respected professionals.

So, Dr. Nestor leads a protest. The entire hospital staff joins together in a five-minute strike at midnight, where they stop all work to show unity.

Those five minutes of silence become a powerful symbol — showing their pain, frustration, and strength. But it also brings new challenges and raises big questions about how far resistance can go.

The End of Season 1

Season 1 ends with the hospital divided — between those who want to fight and those who fear the system. It’s a story of compassion, courage, and tragedy.

Now, as Season 2 approaches, fans can’t wait to see how the doctors of Joaquín Sorolla Hospital pick up the pieces and move forward after such heartbreak.
